Current Postdoc in the TAB-Lab at UoB. Former Oxford DPhil Student in the Booth group, Wolfson College, Bassoonist, Austrian, gamer, book-lover. he/him, 🏳️🌈
More of my postdoc work has now been published in @ChemEurope. This was a super fun project to work on, and with lots of diverse and challenging synthesis, characterisation, crystallography and DFT!
📰 The study of a homochiral perylene diimide dimer for sensing chiral anions is now out in @ChemEurope. Work led by Denis @DenisHartmann with contributions from previous MSci and MRes students Lucy and Jamie in the TAB-Lab @TabLabChem https://t.co/lrkjZtn977
Starting off our second day with @DenisHartmann from @TABarendt talking about PDI macrocycles for molecular electronics and host-guest chemistry! #ECRMASC2024
@DrMikeBooth and his team at @UCLChemistry have developed a method to turn gene expression on or off using multiple wavelengths of light.
A promising technique to study complex cellular processes and advance #syntheticcell#research and #technology!

@EPSRC We've got *2* EPSRC PhD opportunities to join our group in London to study the chemistry and application of nucleic acids, photocages, and polymers! 😍🧬🔦🌡️🧪

One of my DPhil projects with @DrMikeBooth is now on chemRxiv! We developed light-activated antisense oligonucleotides by photocaging the backbone and could use that to control gene knockdown in cell-free expression! Have a look below!

We've developed light-activated antisense oligonucleotides by conjugating photocages onto phosphorothioates 😍🧬🔦!
We used these as cell-free expression OFF switches 🧪🛑⚡️!

If you are curious what I spent a large part of my DPhil on so far, my project on blue light-activatable DNA is now available on ChemRXiv as a preprint! 🎉
@OxfordSynthesis@OxfordChemistry
My poster is now up at the #Biochemistry2022 conference in Münster! Come have a look and chat to me (in 🇩🇪 or 🇬🇧) about blue-light controllable DNA, done under supervision of @DrMikeBooth as part of @OxfordSynthesis.
It is nice to have in person events again! 🎉
📢 4th Edition of @RoySocChem Nucleic Acids in Chemistry and Biology has now been released (Blackburn/Gait/Egli/@jwattsgroup) – The bible for scientists who work with nucleic acids
Furthermore, I wrote the revamped chapter on DNA and RNA Sequencing! 🥳
