I've been doing calisthenics consistently for the last 2 years...
Here is what I learned & my results so far ⬇️
1. The effect of what I call "By-product training"
I never set out to look good, get bigger, get a six pack or be healthy.
I don't know about you but I can't define those things easily. They are subjective. If you can, let me know how.
Instead, I focus on skills.. let me break it down for you.
The first skill I wanted to learn is "Muscle Up".
A skill that requires a lot of strength and explosive power.
Great, we chose the skill. Now, comes the question:
"Who do I need to become to achieve that?".
I will need to be able to do 10-15 pull ups, and then be able to pull my weight explosively.
So I focus on that, and a result of training for the skill of Muscle Up - my body has no option but to change for the skill I am trying to achieve.
And so the by product of learning to Muscle Up is, I can now do:
✅ Muscle Ups
✅ Weighted Pull Ups between 30-40 kgs
✅ My body transformed into what you see in the photo
Here is the thing, it is very hard to cheat yourself. It is an honest sport.
You either do the skill, or you don't. There is no in between.
I'm currently perfecting my Front Lever and Handstand Push Ups, and the same logic applies.
2. I fixed my lower back pain
Wait, you did? I did...
Lower back has been an issue for me when I stood or hiked or danced at raves.
Basically, being in the up right position for long periods of time.
And the reason being… despite my well defined “6-pack”, my core was weak.
Chances are it is the same for you.
How did I fix it? Once again, the result of by product training.
This time I was training for Front Lever. This is what it looks like 👇
To be able to do this skill, I needed to have a strong core.
It took my time but I got there in the end.
3. The 6 Pack… it looks good but doesn’t mean it is functional.
My example above proves that.
I don’t focus to get a 6-pack, it’s genetically like that for me.
So beware of influencers pushing stuff for you.
Get 6 pack in X amount of time.
Chances are it is genetic for them too.
Lastly, it looks good but that’s about it.
4. If you think it will attract the ladies, it won't.
Just to be clear it was never my intention when I set out on my journey.
I want to clarify it because I see that notion being pushed every now and then.
Instead, you will get attention from other guys at the gym.
You connect, help them and they help you, and as a result strengthen the connection with them.
That's cool.
Remember the "by-product"?
Well, as a by-product you will feel better about yourself and be more confident.
You become a different person - you like it, the opposite sex likes it and everyone around you likes it.
Your energy changes, and that's nice.
If you want to attract the opposite sex, go speak to them. That’s it.
5. It is a journey
The skills are just that... skills.
You will feel great achieving them but that feeling won’t last.
It is who you become while achieving them - that lasts.
You are constantly by yourself. Training. Questioning why you are doing it.
One day you love it, next day you don’t. It’s a ride.
During my journey:
✅ I stopped drinking and taking other substances. They don’t serve me anymore.
✅ I’ve met and connected with a lot of amazing people.
✅ I have more energy and drive to do other things.
✅ My business is on the rise.
And I look forward to the changes ahead.
It is a lifestyle.
It is a meditation.
Thing brings me to the next point...
6. You do Yoga every day
By doing calisthenics, I do yoga. In fact, by doing anything… you do yoga.
Contrary to popular belief - yoga is not tight yoga pants, mats and flat whites.
If we look at definition from Ministry of Internal Affairs of India, we get:
“Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy living. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature”
The way I understood it, before reading the definition, as being connected to everything around you.
To be present with whatever it is you do in that given moment and everything around you.
This realisation came to me while I was sweating and trying to recover between a heavy pull up set.
And so if you are being present and united with the task at hand, whether it is calisthenics, squatting 200kg or watching Netflix - you are practicing Yoga.
Pretty cool, right?
Welcome to the Yoga club :)

I sat on an idea for over a year because...
I kept telling myself it probably wouldn't work.
Last week I got sick of hearing my own excuses and just built it.
Took 2 days.
A week later, I had 6 leads waiting. All from SEO.
Real people, actually looking for this service.
Now comes the fun part... selling them :)
Wild how the doubting took a year and the proving took a week.
I have to keep following my intuition.
My first time experiencing Starlink 🤯
Flying United across the Pacific.
Chatting with Claude, while streaming youtube.
Long haul flights just got a whole lot more productive... or not 😅
p.s. this post was sent while 35,000 ft in the air.
@AlexReibman wow, reading this now.
and wow... that's 360 no scope awakening slap in me
I used to be competitive WoW player and remember grinding Alterac Valley for honour... while in Uni.
But apply similar thinking to my day to day life - why not??
SEO is slow...
But slow and steady wins the race.
At least, my experience with SEO.
If you don't have the patience, well... we have ads :)
But look at the project I launched 6 months ago - is finally finding traction.
The next 6 months, I expect it to find new levels.
And then monetise it.
P.S. I built it with AI, and it is updated by AI - pretty cool.
And so it begins.
One LLM chat starts, and the rest will follow.
What's interesting to me is how Google will integrate their Ads in AI Overview.
Given that Ads is a big chunk of their business.
Any ideas?
We are starting to test ads in ChatGPT free and Go (new $8/month option) tiers.
Here are our principles. Most importantly, we will not accept money to influence the answer ChatGPT gives you, and we keep your conversations private from advertisers.
It is clear to us that a lot of people want to use a lot of AI and don't want to pay, so we are are hopeful a business model like this can work.
(An example of ads I like are on Instagram, where I've found stuff I like that I otherwise never would have. We will try to make ads ever more useful to users.)
my game time decreased a lot when I started doing what I wanted to do, instead of "escaping life".
the things I wanted to do were more interesting to me.
But i do enjoy playing an online competitive game every now and then, it's just fun. And no different to other forms of entertainment.
However, what would be interesting to see is how much time people spend now watching reels and so on.
wooo, I live in Sydney now.
I did the maths in the past of living in Bondi.
And you are better off renting than getting a mortgage.
Simply from interest rate repayments vs rent.
You pay way more in interest but of course, this doesn't include capital appreciation etc.
p.s. This list is also missing Auckland, New York, Tokyo , Shanghai etc.
p.p.s is it adjusted to local earning power too?
