Michael Jordan on Practice 🎯
“I love practice. I need to practice.
How can I skip practice? I need it.”
The Best are always hungry & passionate about improving. It’s not work, it’s getting better.
1.9 -2.2 Percent of high school players get to play Division 1 Baseball.
The transfer portal as it is, will lower that number even more you will see fewer high school commits unless the transfer portal rules change.
If you are a high school player, you need to be doing everything you can to compete for a spot as a commit.
Once committed understand now you are trying to earn a spot against players who are older than you, have probably seen better pitching, and higher velo than you.
Earning a starting spot at a D1 college is very very tough. INCREDIBLY tough.
So what can you do to try and compete for a spot on a D1 roster and shoot for a starting spot.
Eat right, challenge yourself in the cages and on the field with DIFFICULT WORK, stuff that you aren’t good at or don’t like, embrace the challenge.
Lift!! Don’t wait until high school to start lifting. College lifting programs are ridiculously tough.
Fielding, work multiple positions, get uncomfortable there, work on the things that you aren’t good at while never neglecting the things that you currently do well.
Finally- SLEEP!! Recovery is huge. You need to get enough rest. There is a correlation between not getting enough sleep and injuries.
There are so many players who play the game so well, I’m chasing them and will always bust my butt to continue to get better.
Making the high school team is hard, but college, they say everyone is as good as you if not better.
Leave no stone unturned- get uncomfortable and give yourself your best shot to get an opportunity to continue to play at ANY level.
Humbled and honored. Not here without the help of many! Beautiful family, awesome coaches and awesome players! Lots of work to be done. ALL IN- The only way we know. Go Bows! 🤙🏽🌈
Great hire for El Paso High baseball program as Gilbert Bailon takes over. Had lots of success at Santa Teresa HS in nearby New Mexico, including a 2013 Final 4 appearance. He passed the 300-win mark in his career this past season and was in the Gadsden school district 25 years.
Movement prep for hitters; Coaches what are you doing to build a great sequence of movement patterns that lead to a solid base to hit from?
Here is a portion of one the four movement prep progressions we will use this fall (3 weeks per sequence) to help our players build a great base to hit from Coach Hernandez @5TPDevelopment doing a great job this fall executing the plan
@Cdknight_27@WagBaseball does a great job at excelling at most of what we throw at him. Good young hitter who has a bright future as a switch hitter
