The establishment spent a fortune last night to show exactly how few people they have left. The Manatee REC held their Summer Kick-Off at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Sarasota. Invitation only. Open bar. Setup for 100 people. Approximately 35 showed up. 22 of which were elected officials, candidates and donors. That means 12 REC members. And of the 12 a few of them are there only to watch and report the implosion. No photos and no video allowed. When your own party event bans cameras you already know why.

For those who don't know what's been happening — the RPOF under Joe Gruters has been systematically purging elected Republican committeemen and women across Florida for supporting candidates he didn't personally approve. In Manatee County alone they overturned a duly held election and kicked out roughly 180 active Republicans who refused to bow to the donor class running the operation. That's the context here.

The message to the 35 people who showed up was simple. Stay in your lane. Just be a warm body for whoever the establishment already selected. They also took a shot at America First Republicans in the room. Apparently felt the need to talk about the movement they're trying to suppress.

This is the Manatee Republican Party in 2026. Expensive venue, empty room, closed doors and top down control with no grassroots energy in sight. Perhaps they'll change the rules again and go back to Covid restrictions to coverup the Biden-like energy in the room.

What we Republicans need is the energy of the base. Something drastic needs to be done. I'd start with firing Joe Gruters as Chair of the RNC. When his hometown REC is this sad, it is clear purging conservatives from the party is not a winning formula.
