@KazmiWajahat The DG ISPR was clear that the military and political leadership are aligned and working together. Claims of any rift are baseless narratives pushed by vested interests to create confusion. Institutional unity remains essential for Pakistan’s stability and national interest.
Pakistan’s Constitution reflects the ideological foundation on which the country was created. As a state formed explicitly to safeguard the political, religious, and cultural rights of Muslims of the subcontinent, it is neither unusual nor unjust that its highest constitutional offices are reserved for Muslims. Many countries embed their foundational identity into constitutional requirements, Pakistan is simply transparent about it.
Importantly, this provision does not negate the citizenship, civil rights, or political participation of minorities. Non-Muslims in Pakistan can vote, be elected to parliament, serve as ministers, judges, generals, and ambassadors. The restriction applies only to a symbolic apex office that represents the Islamic character of the state, much like how several countries have state religions or religious oaths tied to leadership.
Comparisons with India also require historical honesty. India was founded as a secular republic; Pakistan was founded as an Islamic republic. Different origins naturally lead to different constitutional choices, and neither model is inherently superior, they reflect different national visions.
As for the dream of a hijab-clad woman leading a country: Pakistan has already seen a female Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, decades before many democracies. Pakistani women in hijab and without hijab serve today as lawmakers, diplomats, pilots, doctors, and judges. Leadership in Pakistan is not constrained by gender or dress, but guided by its constitutional and ideological framework.
Respecting diversity also means respecting each nation’s right to define itself. Pakistan’s constitution is not a denial of democracy, it is an expression of its history, identity, and collective will.
One verse that often guides me on the road is “So travel through the earth and observe how He began creation” (Qur’an 29:20). It reminds me that travel isn’t just movement, but reflection, seeing Allah’s signs in different cultures, landscapes, and people. Alongside that, Sūrah al-Fātiḥah stays with me constantly, especially “Guide us to the straight path.” No matter where I am in the world, that duʿāʾ grounds me, asking for guidance, balance, and sincerity. Together, they keep my travels purposeful, rooted in remembrance while remaining open to discovery.
Islam has shaped my daily life most through tawḥīd, because it gives everything meaning and direction.
Knowing that all aspects of life connect back to one Creator helps me stay grounded, especially during uncertainty. Daily prayers are another major influence, they create moments of pause, reflection, and realignment throughout the day.
The Qur’an, with its consistency and depth, often feels like a mirror to my own experiences, offering guidance, comfort, and reminders when I need them most. Together, these elements don’t just guide my beliefs; they shape how I think, act, and find purpose in everyday life.
That’s a thoughtful way to approach it. If I answer personally, Islam convinces me mainly through its clarity and coherence.
What stands out first is pure monotheism (tawḥīd) God is one, incomparable, and not dependent on anything. There’s no tension or mystery in who God is, and that simplicity feels intellectually consistent.
Second, the Qur’an’s preservation and internal consistency are compelling. It presents itself as a direct message from God, challenges the reader to reflect and question, and has remained unchanged while being widely memorized. Its emphasis on reason, signs in nature, and moral accountability resonates strongly.
Third, Islam’s balance between justice and mercy makes sense to me. Each person is responsible for their own actions, no inherited sin, no need for a mediator, yet repentance is always open. Redemption comes through sincere repentance, not sacrifice, which aligns with a strong sense of personal responsibility.
Finally, the continuity of prophethood is persuasive: Islam affirms figures like Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all) as part of one consistent message, worship one God, rather than separate or conflicting paths.
I deeply respect Christianity’s focus on love and redemption, but Islam’s theological clarity, moral framework, and emphasis on reason are what ultimately convince me.
