Mental illness is a brain disorder? Right?
We thought so.
Hang on though, our new study @JAMAPsych shows that poor body health is a more pronounced manifestation of mental illness than poor brain health.

📢 Breaking news that will send shivers of panic across academia:
Microsoft just announced it's putting a ChatGPT-like took *inside* MS Word 🤯
They're calling it Copilot.
According to Microsoft, "Copilot gives you a first draft to edit and iterate on — saving hours in writing, sourcing, and editing time."
Imagine having a first draft of a journal article or a dissertation to which you will only need to add citations and section headings.
Microsoft is absolutely right that "Copilot will fundamentally change how people work with AI and how AI works with people."
As an academic, what do you think of it?
🧵#ScienceBreakdown: "Psychedelics promote neuroplasticity through the activation of intracellular 5-HT2A receptors"
Interesting new paper by @DEOlsonLab, @LinTianPhD, et al. looking at why some serotonin 2A receptor agonists promote neuroplasticity, but others do not.

Welp, I disagree. The search for universal truths is one of the biggest scams in psychology. Positionality statements are 1 way for folks to be critical in how their identities and experiences influence their work. To assume it doesn’t is willfully ignorant. 🤷🏾♀️ we all do mesearch
Me everytime I allow/force myself to take a break and rediscover the fact that prioritizing rest actually results in me feeling more energized and ready to tackle my work
This may be one of the largest ecological disasters in US history.
There were roughly 100,000 gallons or 1,000,000 pounds of Vinyl Chloride leaked, spilled and burned at #EastPalestine crash.
Acid rain and Phosgene will decimate the zones ecology.
ChatGPT is everywhere and everyone is using it.
But most academics don't know how to use it *smartly.*
Here's how to use ChatGPT intelligently (and ethically) for academic purposes:
3 intentions to bring with you into 2023:
(1) Time is your most precious asset—it’s all you have and you’ll never get it back.
(2) Rest is a core part of your daily systems—not a reward for your efforts.
(3) Motivation is a byproduct of movement—when in doubt, start moving.
A challenge that every graduate student faces: how to read difficult research articles.
Here's how to understand research articles better using an AI-powered app (no cheating although it may feel like it 😀):
a basic understanding of the algorithm/model, problem, and data. The inputs and outputs, some modeling details, the literature context (what gap is being filled) will be part of this understanding. You can aim to process ~3 papers/day at this level. 6/
We are using our lab meeting this week to build our personal websites! Does anyone have recommendations for host sites? And I'd love to see examples if you'd like to share!
