@St1ka Helps that cartoonish visuals always tend to age better. Especially with a low texture cashe of 2kb. It was better to have all the art have a defined look.
@St1ka The amiga has been a huge inspiration on me trying to improve my pixel art. The idea being that I feel that systems like the gameboy could match that level of fidelity with enough effort. Even with the inherent limitations of the system.
@its_mirrors Personally I think sin a punishment is a impressive looking game. The amount of action with nearly zero loading times makes it one of the best games on the whole console as far as commercial releases are concerned
@St1ka Its even worse on handheld systems. Outside of pokemon, most handheld games rarely ever get mentioned. And you can forget about retro PC games. Its incredibly niche even to handheld gaming.
@basemntbrothers Its certainly not easy but its very much possible. The sega saturn is a CD based console. Yet thanks to the saroo, it just about eliminates load times. And looking at the specs 7MB of RAM in the cartridge would help medigate a lot of the issues in translating it to a cartridge.
@akio_1963 I loved how after you saved Morden. We're all celebrating a job well done before the metal slab falls over and the rebel army is in complete shock. That was super funny and is one of the many reasons why I love the metal slug series.
@potatolain@matthughson Honestly this is super cool. And after reading the quirks of the system. I'm impressed at all the things you've done to get this working.
@basemntbrothers In theory the N64 could do better than the Neo Geo in terms of ROM size. Only issue was that ROM chips that exceeded 64MB were prohibitively expensive. And the read speeds on the N64 were actually faster as well, unfortunately not many developers figured out the memory layout.
