Check out our new preprint on an intriguing visual illusion! We (@DewindNick & Liz Brannon) show that increasing array entropy reduces perceived numerosity, and the strength of this illusion increases into adulthood. https://t.co/6waziuk4kC
Introducing 🌳https://t.co/m8MusGFkpI: a new tool that lets you dive into a tree of more than a million public SARS-CoV-2 sequences from around the world.
Quick 🧵 below or just give it a try.
We have launched the interactive Regeneron COVID-19 Dashboard, in partnership with @GISAID, to enable scientists and the public to easily monitor the most relevant #SARSCoV2 variants circulating today.
My summary thoughts on B.1.617.2:
1. The data on increased transmissibility is concerning, but it’s good that a significant vaccine escape looks unlikely
2. My model suggests that we can probably still exit with only a small wave if we’re prepared to extend baseline controls,
Testing and contact tracing can have an impact on control directly (e.g. through isolation and quarantine), but can also improve understanding of transmission, which in turn can inform wider control. Take this crucial dataset on the novel variant in UK from December 2020:
I just discovered @LourencoLab re-analysis of the work I did with @DewindNick and I am so excited about it! Very cool @LaurenAulet I can’t wait to dig in
Linear regression— line through data points
t-test— linear regression

ANOVA— linear regression
ANCOVA— linear regression
Chi-square test— logistic regression
Deep learning— bunch of regressions
We've updated our preprint on the transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 VOC 202012/01, aka B.1.1.7, with new statistical and modelling methods. Headline: we estimate VOC is 43–82% more transmissible than preexisting variants. UNDER PEER REVIEW https://t.co/rYBx712GN3 (1/6)
There are always questions at the end of the visit.
It’s only natural. Nobody remembers everything. I’m used to clarifying and reiterating.
But your question catches me off guard.
“Did you know that hummingbirds remember every single flower they’ve ever visited?” 1/
