All ice activities on lakes and moving bodies of water come with a risk. Minimize the risk by following ice-thickness guidelines.
7 centimetres (3 inches) or less – stay off
10 centimetres (4 inches) – ice fishing, walking, cross-country skiing
12 centimetres (5 inches) – ATV, snowmobile
Tell someone where you’re going and when you plan to be back. Take note of shoreline addresses or terrain features to help first responders reach you in the event of an emergency. For tips on what to do if you fall through the ice, go to AdventureSmart https://t.co/o22t68n0Kq.
