It appears--per reporting by CNN and @RCPolitics--that three officials with the US Secret Service comms shop have been placed on leave and stripped of their security clearances and devices related to a potential misconduct investigation.

This includes longtime spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. I first reported on Guglielmi in 2022--he was part of the coverup of the infamous "missing texts" from at least two dozen Secret Service officials and agents related to the events of January 6. The timeframe just happened to include all texts between December 7, 2020 and January 8, 2021.

He claimed all the devices were wiped as part of a "system migration" of cell providers. Some of the texts belonged to Secret Service Director James Murray (who later left for a gig at Snapchat), assistant director of Office of Protective Operations Kim Cheatle (who resigned as USSS director shortly after Butler) and Robert Engel, head of Trump's detail, who was in the president's vehicle on Jan 6 and a key figure in Cassidy Hutchinson's imaginary confrontation that afternoon.

Despite Guglielmi's defiant tone of no wrongdoing on behalf of the Secret Service--keep in mind, every federal agency had received preservation notices from Congressional Democrats shortly after Jan 6, so the purge also represented destruction of evidence and obstruction of Congress, among other crimes--he later admitted the texts were not recoverable.

Which is of course impossible.

Guglielmi then helped the Biden DHS/USSS divert blame to Joseph Cuffari, the department's inspector general. Top Dems and even the Biden White House accused Cuffari of stonewalling the disclosure about the missing texts. Not true.

I doubt any current investigation is related to his involvement in the missing text scandal--but it should.
