On my way to #ARSAD2023 for two days of discussion about #AudioDescription Really looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new AD geeks.
Who’s here?
Loving how everyone seems to be talking about #subtitles at the moment. Also want to know who subtitled to Kill a Mockingbird though… https://t.co/t6gpgiepKw
Great questions - loved the one about whether there’s a subtitlers’ “dialect” - standard terminology for how to describe sounds. Great answer too.
And on subtitling of taboo language.
Well worth a listen.
Harrowing words from a senior emergency medicine doctor showing the despair at not being able to provide the level of care every doctor hopes to for their patients. Every doctor, nurse & HCW can empathise with this right now.
Shared w/ permission. Pls RT to get this out there.
Exactly. If it’s a regionalism / dialect (eg. I were, we was) I’d go verbatim. If it’s just a mispronunciation, I’d probably correct it and prioritise info / ease of reading. If it’s a mistake that carries meaning, I might use quotes. Sorry - “it depends” isn’t too helpful….
It was great to finally see a presentation delivered in sign language at #LAM22
Lesley McGilp explained how @RedBeeMedia have been training Deaf interpreters in Europe to deliver live interpreting as part of the #DeafMedia Erasmus + project #BSL#accessibility
Obviously I’m biased, but this presentation was definitely a conference highlight for me. Highly informative, entertaining, and delivered impeccably. Just like the AD our amazing team create for #NakedAttraction Well done, @mazzacampbell#LAM22
Magnificent melons, nut sacks that are the envy of squirrels... @mazzacampbell shares her experience @RedBeeMedia addressing the audience demands and improving the AD of nudity. #LAM22@LMconference

When approached (on a VERY short deadline) to join this project, no one hesitated. Very proud of the Red Bee team - sharing their expertise with Deaf groups across Europe to promote interpreting as a profession for Deaf people. #DeafMedia#accessibility https://t.co/Kbbdxw5HEK
