You may have noticed I’ve not posted from here much of late. Do follow me at @NannyFreeState instead.
(I’ve set up a Substack to replace the blog, d’ya reckon I should start posting there?) 🤔
When the FDA passed a rule to ban flavored tobacco, they claimed no police will ever stop individual “offenders”
However, when cities go to enforce these rules, their fallback will be on police confrontation, just like here for a guy *smoking outside*

These are becoming more frequent, but here we go.
“the “domino theory” i.e. that once a measure has been applied to tobacco it will be applied to other products is patently false" <- @AshOrgUK 2012.

@cjsnowdon@ronnytodgers It's the usual argument of the snob who doesn't like what other people enjoy. We must wait 50 years for non-existent harms to materialise ... by then we will have a different argument.
ASH has never been comfortable with vaping. They pretended to be vape-friendly for a number of years but it was always hollow. Remember they advocated for medical only vapes in 2012 for the EU TPD. Now trying to seize that chance again.
.@theipaper has revealed that Conservative MP Adam Afriyie vice chair of the APPG on vaping pushed ministers to put vaping at the heart of the UK’s anti-smoking drive without declaring that his family stands to profit
Their concern was a question as to why the UK should continue to fund the WHO @FCTCofficial when it continues to undermine UK policy on vaping. Perhaps the real question should be why the UK govt should continue to fund @AshOrgUK when it is more faithful to WHO than its funders.
Now George Osborne wants us to ban cigarettes - great six minute discussion on nanny state intolerance from @FraserMyers and @Tom_Slater_ at @spikedonline https://t.co/psMaX8nG8V
"Seldom do we hear an interviewer or presenter pose the question, ‘Is this the taxpayer’s responsibility?’ or ‘Can the government afford to fix it even if it thought it could?’ or, heaven forbid, ‘What have those affected done to help themselves?’" https://t.co/4j3ygdqAXW
"B oth Osborne and Cameron epitomise a species of modern paternalistic Tories who think they know what is best for the rest of us. They tend to be privileged and entitled, and exude a somewhat superior air." https://t.co/wOYxnXyJUi
@DaviMaree@AshBinAus@RedfearnMike This page will have to be updated. https://t.co/fa8yWBiXzm
But I remember you asked Aus Border Force what their policy is for tourist vapes once and they said they confiscated and handed back on exit. IIRC, they said it's fine as "there is a cigarette shop omn every corner". 🤪
@cjsnowdon Smokers in Australia should put their faith in their government instead of the black market. It is right on their side. https://t.co/vAiHf1xFNE
