@garrytan 48 Hills is great. I read their article about the city’s analysis on the upzoning plan. The best case scenario is a 4% reduction in housing costs. And that analysis was done by a yimby.
@zachklein@KimChiSpicey I like that crime has been going down and the streets seem moderately cleaner. But I don’t know why he’s took orders from Scott, who most of D4 despises, without question. His appeal was in looking independent. Now we know he’s not.
@MarisaCat3@carlatcole@otterbo54348271 They’re brainwashed into thinking homeowners are rich with knowing the other factors. They just see price tags on Zillow. They’re getting played by billionaires to pump engagement on yimby content.
@MarisaCat3@carlatcole@otterbo54348271 My theory is they’re mostly Gen Z kids in other cities, and they’re incubated and hatched on Reddit. Over time they’re indoctrinated that NIMBYs / boomers are the reason for their financial struggles, and then sold the dream of an apartment in SF or NY that they can afford.
If you make driving more expensive and add parcel taxes, then homeowners, workers, and families will be pressured to leave so developers can then buy their properties and clear rent controlled units faster.
They say it’s about the environment and getting people to use transit more, yet they make transit worse too. So that claim doesn’t hold up.
It’s easier to push undesirables out with heavy costs and policies than to openly discriminate. They need to maintain a “democrat” pro-people appearance.
E.g. TAMA 38 looks like it’s about retrofitting for earthquake safety, but in practice it forces the demographic change they want to see to annex property faster in places like the West Bank. Here in SF, taxing car and homeownership is really about forcing demographic change and driving profits for big banks and real estate developers.
Parking enforcement, citation costs, reduction in spaces has all gone up under Breed, and as a result of the $1B yimby deficit. Joel was unrelated to this, but he pulled the same antics in D4. My point was: vote for YIMBYs and we’ll be taxed more for driving, see more road closures, higher city debt, transit reduction, and an increased cost of living.
They can’t enough regulation when it comes to taxing residents. Makes it easier to capture land and price people out.
@SockDem_@atbeme So London Breed was not a yimby endorsed by GrowSF? And she didn’t incur a near $1B deficit while in office? And Lurie didn’t just ramp up the ticket enforcement + slash muni budget to close the deficit?
Those are public facts. Do some research.
Manhattan’s density reduced after the subway, but NYC’s entire metro density exploded.
Transit unlocked millions of new homes in the outer boroughs for a denser region, not just Manhattan.
Turns out most people actually don’t like being crammed in like rats. Only yimbys like that.
