New working paper by MA Econ grad @DimpleChopde and Azim Premji Univ faculties @amitbasole@paari87 that estimates productivity differentials (& underlying causes) bw organized and unorganized sector firms…authors do so by creating a new unit-level data set using ASI & NSS
#EconTwitter : if you have 2nd/3rd year PhD students interested in international macro and finance but not sure of a specific topic, @JSchreger suggested that the https://t.co/d031pBTvNL could be a good source of ideas. They can also watch past IFMDS SI sessions on NBER Youtube
Because Twitter (sorry, X) doesn’t like our @EconInContext account, posting here this thread on our MA students and the incredible work they have been doing:

Want to use @Stata to visually present your regression results?
I made a guide for my students & wanted to share. It covers key aesthetics, combining results from multiple models, working w/ logit models, and more. Oh, and I provide all the code.😊

Research and policy attention are vital for small-scale unorganised units. Enabling their growth in firm size, productivity, and employment is crucial for India's economy which is dominated by micro & small enterprises.

1/2 New working paper with @paari87 and my MA student @DimpleChopde@azimpremjiuniv. We combine unit-level ASI and NSSO data on manufacturing units. Historically such an exercise has been viewed with skepticism. We discuss problems involved and how to deal with them.
1/8 New CSE working paper: Estimating the productivity gap between organised and unorganised small-scale units in India’s manufacturing sector by @amitbasole@paari87@DimpleChopde available at: https://t.co/WdnPtfzqMf
What to do about parallel trends when you only have baseline data? I offer 5 things you can try to make the parallel trends assumption in difference-in-differences somewhat plausible even when you only have a single baseline and not lots of pre-periods https://t.co/z43YZ5cRwB
Hi #EconTwitter!
Check out this amazing set of (undergrad) notes by @pengding00 (UCBStatistics) if you want to learn about the #statistics and #econometrics of 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞!
Really cool stuff.
Thanks @pedrohcgs for sharing this!

A #StataTip: there is a long forgotten option in "tab" that I just rediscovered:
sysuse auto, clear
tab rep78, plot
will give you a very cool ASCII bar plot in addition to the summary statistics.
One thing I miss about working with STATA compared to R is the ease of navigating between code sections in an R script. If anyone has any suggestions or tips on improving code navigation in STATA, they would be greatly appreciated!
