A heated exchange of words took place between the Police and protesters near the Presidential Secretariat when the Police attempted to grab a banner used by a protester.

A senior Police officer told the protester that he cannot display the banner and attempt to incite violence.

The reduction of Visa fee from $101 to $ 50 is an eye wash. Now the loss of income is to the Sri Lankan gvt whilst VFS will continue to enjoy their $25 Per tourist for the next 12 years.

🇱🇰 VISA ISSUE: What the PMD statement doesn't say:

⭕ The visa issuance *process* will continue to be handled solely by the VFS Global.

⭕ The gov will reduce the old visa fee from $60 to around $25 to accommodate the ~$25 service charge and convenience fee by VFS Global, in order for the all-inclusive fee to be $50.

⭕ The gov may have to pay from its own pocket for the service fees and convenience fees charged by VFS Global for the 'free visa' of they are truly free.

⭕ VFS Global will receive a significant % of the $24.8 billion Rupees (in Dollar income) that Sri Lanka earned from visa fees last year, which previously went directly into the treasury's coffers.
