#DigiTechS23B One of the biggest takeaways in this class for me is definitely Christensen's framework for disruptive innovation, whilst not perfect, I feel as though having prior knowledge of it will definitely be useful as I like investing and trading stock options
@Martin_DCIM I have a friend that works at a software company whose developers mostly work from home, they have these super funny meetings in ChatVR. This is mostly just hilarious now, but I can see it becoming a big thing in a lot of workplaces in the future.
@cmo1433 I think a lot of people will definetly lose their job to automation (driven by artificial intelligence), this has been the case for the larger part of modern human history, people seem to manage though, typically other industries expand and absorb those workers.
@XaviPazmino63 I agree, I actually did my EDTP paper on this exact topic and researched how tools like chatGPT are being implemented, short answer, not too much at the k-12 level, but quite a lot in the online learning space.
#DigiTechS23B In my opinion, Quantum computing will see a great boom in the next decade or so. Quantum computers are capable of having tenths of times the computing power of a classical computer, making them the future of cybersecurity.
@Hyun_seo_Choi I find this super interesting. I also think this is a super disruptive technology, evidenced by the small amount of regulation the US government has placed on the industry (largely because it has grown so quickly). What do you think about the recent stories involving FTX?
#DigiTechS23B My EDTP paper will be on the impact of code writing software on computer science eduaction, as well as the ever changing landscape of the computer programming industry. If you too are interested in this topic, what do you think is the future impact of this tech?
@geetikathakur39 I've had a lot of akward experiences with people that have only ever used apps like tinder to date, I don't believe this is the norm, but my experiences seem to suggest otherwise.
#DigiTechS23B (1/3) The impact of social media on american politics has been nothing short of extraordinary, though interestingly enough, social media has been largely seen as net positive by other countries, it is increasingly seen as a negative in the US..
#DigiTechS23B(3/3) prone to this polarization. I think it is a mixture of the two. Our country having a single president (figure head), and americans behaving as though they work for the president (by feeling like they need to always defend them) instead of the other way around.
@Hyun_seo_Choi To add to this, many people seem to have lost their ability to have a normal 1 on 1 conversation with someone else, thus in my opinion, the social skills of younger people has greatly diminished over the past decade or two.
@jbang_rutgers I've even noticed this happening with me. Social media subtly encourages us to show the most exciting aspects of our lives, and not so much the mundane ones, this results in an online personality that doesn't resemble who we actually are IRL.
