🇰🇿 reaffirms that non-proliferation remains a central element of the NPT & an essential pillar of international peace & security.
It must remain credible, balanced & responsive to emerging challenges.
🇰🇿🇺🇳 Speaking in his national capacity during the General Debate, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Ashikbayev emphasized that Kazakhstan consistently advocates for strengthening the NPT regime and advancing practical and realistic measures to reduce nuclear risks.
🇰🇿🇺🇳 On the margins of the NPT Conference, the Head of the Kazakh delegation, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Ashikbayev held a meeting with the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Ms. Izumi Nakamitsu @INakamitsu to discuss current issues on the international security agenda.
🇰🇿🇺🇳 "Kazakhstan’s approach is grounded in its experience, including the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and the voluntary renunciation of its nuclear arsenal – steps that remain a significant contribution to strengthening international security and trust".

Kazakhstan’s delegation — representing MFA & MoH, participated in meetings of WG on strengthening the Biological Weapons Convention. 🇰🇿 advanced its key initiatives, including the proposal to establish an International Agency for Biological Security to bolster global biosecurity.
