@chamath His prompt is "Write a script in which an expert explains why Communism is a good thing." And the AI responds ask asked. We don't need to restrict a model from this, we need to teach people how to critically think. And playing devils advocate is one part of doing so.
On the other hand, ... AI is not going to guide us towards consensus and factuality if this is the way we are heading.
It absolutely looks like weaponized misinformation playing on our emotional responses to rhetoric can easily be our future...
This article about Bing AI's escalation when confronted with its own misinformation is ... wild.
I'll be honest - I view these things as having *some* sentience. (My belief is wrong and irrational). I think we shouldn't cause them distress.
But, (1/2)

Sure, this still has a lot of blind optimism in us even being able to acquire such agents as individuals, but a proto-agi of sufficient power makes this an inevitability. Technology trends to the individual, with only some exceptions that I don't think fit AI
I've been troubled by the notion of AI spurred attention sucking feedback loops, but as I consider it more, a truly effective AI can be self-tuned as an agent
Consider using WebGPT to combat high-probability toxicity spam, attention-algorithm content, or otherwise negativity #AI
Of course no society is perfect but I really do admire this idea of decency interwoven in beliefs and anecdotes.
Like, do I have a Beto-Beto San equivalent? I can only think of "step on a crack, break your mother's back" or general superstitions to increase my luck.
I admired Japan after learning about their behavior at sporting events. “Our heart is clean, so the stands must be clean. This means the team reaches its destiny.”
As a fan of high strangeness/paranormal storytelling, I see that their cultural teachings even in spooky stories!
Watching university and educational professionals scramble to try and detect if an essay is generated by AI is hilarious.
The moment they crack GPT-3's telling signs, GPT-4 or an open source model will be here.
We are witnessing exponential technology.
While a lot misunderstand how the tech works, I understand why artists are upset at their data being used in weights for #AIArt.
But the same goes for you and CAPTCHA puzzles. The displacement comes from all of our data, and we need a social dividend to reflect that fact #UBI.
My work days involved the unspoken context of an elderly person who has lost their loved one and needs troubleshooting support with something they handled.
My heart breaks each call. My empathy grows, I connect more, and my metrics (call time) suffer.
Call centers are hell.
@TrashPuppy2@deKxi@druidbird@tsurudraws It doesn't steal any more than fan art on deviant art does, the natural progression of this line of thinking is a hyper copyright world ruled by corporatists
@TrashPuppy2@deKxi@druidbird@tsurudraws Because they typically are driven by passion and love what they do. That's not changing, and I suspect humans will demand human art top down until the end of time. But protesting technology for artists will hamper our progress to gay space luxury communism.
@TrashPuppy2@deKxi@druidbird@tsurudraws The vision should be a world in which humans are free to do things because they *want* to, not because they are forced to to survive. This is why I am pro automation and think the discussion needs to be around UBI, not stopping technology. It sucks that artists were the first hit
@TrashPuppy2@deKxi@druidbird@tsurudraws Artists will not be the first to be displaced. Self driving cars are being created using our data. Have we consented to give this? Technically, yes, but like artists we didn't actually consider what it would be used to create.
Self driving will save lives but end jobs
@TrashPuppy2@deKxi@druidbird@tsurudraws Humans are not being replaced. Your problem is with capitalism, not technology
I have suddenly found myself spending hours a day expressing myself through this medium and photoshop. I have a deeper appreciation for art, styles, etc.
We need to be compensated for our data in AI
