A young man and his uncle were hacked to death in Gujarat's Morbi district, allegedly over a dispute related to land measurement, police said. The two accused involved in the double murder were arrested within hours of the incident.
According to the police complaint, the family of the victims -- Jaipal Singh and his nephew Harshvardhan Singh -- cultivates around 30 bighas of land (nearly 19 acres) registered in Jaipal's sister's name.
On June 9, Jaipal, Harshvardhan and his father Digvijay Singh had gone to the field to carry out a land survey and mark the boundaries. Neighbouring landholders Mahavir Singh Jhala and Tejpal Singh Jhala were also called to the site during the measurement process.
Tensions reportedly flared after the survey was completed and boundary pegs were being installed for fencing, police said.
Investigators said Mahavir and Tejpal objected to the demarcation and allegedly entered the field armed with sharp-edged weapons before attacking Jaipal Singh and Harshvardhan Singh.
The two sustained grievous injuries in the assault and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Gujarat Police launched an immediate manhunt and arrested the two accused within hours of the incident. Officials said the arrests were made using technical surveillance and human intelligence inputs after the accused fled the scene on a bike.
Police have initiated the process of seizing the bike used in the escape, as well as the sharp-edged weapons allegedly used in the crime.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the dispute stemmed from a verbal land agreement between the two parties about a decade ago. Police said disagreements resurfaced when the land was recently surveyed, leading to an argument that allegedly escalated into the fatal attack.
The accused are being produced before a court, and police are seeking their remand for further investigation, officials added.
A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Initial reports said she ende her life after being chided by her mother over her relationship with a man from Salem. However, the autopsy revealed she was strangulated.
During interrogation, Sivagnanam revealed that he checked her Instagram account and saw she sent messages to a man, despite warning her not to do so. In rage, he allegedly strangulated her with her shawl.
To conceal the murder, the mother-son duo filed a complaint of suicide. Speaking to media, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeganathan said none of the family members knew the identity of the man. Since the two had no affair, and the murder was not planned, there is no possibility of honour killing, he added.
A tragic incident has shocked Maharashtra's Solapur district after a school principal, his wife and their two children were found dead at their residence. Police suspect the deaths may be linked to severe financial distress arising from substantial losses in the stock market.
The deceased have been identified as Yogesh Balasaheb Patil, a headmaster at a Zilla Parishad school in Chaugaon (Bk.) in Nandurbar district, his wife Madhuri Patil (37), and their two sons, Atharv (11) and Shivansh (9).
According to police, the incident is believed to have occurred on Thursday night. The matter came to light on Friday morning when a milk delivery person arrived at the family's home and received no response despite repeated attempts to contact them. Suspecting something was wrong, neighbours helped force open the door and discovered the bodies inside the house.
Police said Yogesh Patil was found hanging, while the bodies of his wife and children were found elsewhere in the residence. Preliminary findings suggest that the family may have consumed a poisonous substance before Patil allegedly took his own life. However, officials said the exact sequence of events will be determined following a detailed investigation and forensic examination.
Investigators believe Patil had been under significant financial and emotional strain due to losses incurred through stock market investments. As per preliminary information, he allegedly suffered losses of nearly Rs 1.8 crore. Police sources said he had also lost a substantial amount of family savings and had reportedly borrowed money from relatives and friends, leaving him under mounting financial pressure.
A 22-page note was recovered from the residence. Police said the document contains details relating to financial transactions, debts and property-related wishes. Officials added that, based on an initial examination, Patil did not hold any individual directly responsible for his death.
Following the discovery, police teams led by local officers reached the scene and launched an investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered. Authorities are examining all aspects of the incident, including the family's financial circumstances and the contents of the note.
The deaths have left residents of Hattij village and members of the education community in deep shock, with many expressing grief over the loss of an entire family.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Faiz Ahmed, was killed inside the showroom located in the Ashok Paper Mill (APM) police station area on Friday evening.
Police said the case was solved within hours, and the main accused, a former employee of the showroom, has been arrested.
According to police, the incident came to light after disturbing CCTV footage from inside the showroom surfaced, showing the manager being attacked with a heavy motorbike shock absorber and other objects.
Senior police officials said the accused, identified as Sonu Paswan, entered the showroom about an hour before the attack and waited for an opportunity.
“He was previously employed at the same showroom and had been removed from service. The attack appears to be driven by personal enmity,” SDPO Rajiv Kumar said during a press briefing.
Investigators revealed that the accused had a grudge against the manager after being removed from his job following complaints. Police also said there was a financial dispute between the two.
“When the manager was alone, the accused attacked him with a heavy shock absorber used in motorcycles,” the officer said. The attack was so violent that Faiz Ahmed died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
Police launched a late-night raid after reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the suspect. Sonu Paswan was arrested near his residence, and several items were recovered, including the suspected weapon used in the murder, a scooter, and other objects taken from the showroom.
“During interrogation, the accused has admitted to the crime,” police officials confirmed.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody, and police said a speedy trial will be pursued.
Faiz Ahmed, reportedly around 30–35 years old, had previously worked as an engineer in Saudi Arabia before returning to India and taking up a managerial role at the Yamaha dealership.
He is survived by his wife and a young daughter. His family said he was a peaceful man with no known disputes.

Authorities have assured strict legal action and said further investigation is in progress.
A 23-year-old married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Faridabad, with her family claiming that she was harassed for dowry and killed by her husband and in-laws.
The police have registered a case of dowry death against the accused persons, officials said. The woman who lost her life has been identified as Seema, who had got married to Praveen about two years ago.
Her family has alleged that she was murdered and later her body was hanged to stage the death as a suicide.
Seema and Praveen lived with the latter's family initially after the marriage, but had moved to a rented apartment a few months ago due to domestic disputes.
Seema was allegedly being pressured by her in-laws to get money and a truck from her family for a construction business that they had started, according to her relatives.
They claim that she was killed because the demands were not met. After getting information about her death, Seema's family members staged a protest at the society where she and Praveen were living.

Himanshu Jangra, who has been at the centre of the Rs 370 biryani controversy, has said he regrets attending comedian Pranit More's show in Gurugram. In a video interaction with his former boss, Jangra spoke about the trolling that followed, the impact on his family, and the loss of his job.
The video was posted on Saturday by Starvik Design on Instagram. In it, founder Vivek Vishwakarma is seen speaking to Jangra and asking him how things were at home. Jangra said he had been heavily trolled on Instagram for the past two weeks. He revealed nobody at home or in his hometown knew about the controversy for the first week.
However, Jangra said, his uncle found out about the controversy about a week ago and called him. He said he had asked his uncle not to tell anyone and thought the matter would be forgotten in a few days. Instead, the trolling continued and reached his neighbourhood, where people went to his house and told his parents that their son was making inappropriate comments. He said his parents then called him home and asked what had happened.
According to Jangra, he admitted his mistake and was scolded and counselled by them. He said the situation became worse when they learnt that he had been fired.
Quoting his response in the video, he said, "My parents called me back and asked about it. I accepted my mistake and they scolded me and it was okay even till this point. But then they came to know that I was fired and they became very tensed. Now when I see them I am filled with regret for going on the show."
When asked about the remarks made during the show, Jangra said he had watched episodes of More's show earlier and decided to attend because it was his first time in Gurgaon.
He said the story he narrated on stage about a girl he had dated was not completely true and that he had improvised parts of it after hearing the kind of stories others were sharing before him. He also said he accepted that the words he used were wrong and apologised for them.
In the video, he said, "The story I spoke about, yes, I dated a girl for a while, but what I said there was not totally true. I improvised bits of it, seeing how the others were sharing their stories. I guess it was my bad luck but I accept that my words were not right and I would like to say sorry for that. I do not have such mentality or intention."
Jangra also said he had always maintained good working relationships with female colleagues. He added that he regretted saying those words on the show.
The caption accompanying the post said every situation deserved context, conversation and clarity. It said Jangra had been invited to share his perspective and address questions around the ongoing discussion, but added that the conversation was not an endorsement of any statement, action or viewpoint. The post also urged viewers to remain respectful and avoid harassing anyone.
More, in his own video statement posted earlier, called the episode a lapse in judgement and said he had received a great deal of hate online. He said, "I probably deserve this hate," and added, "I could have stopped him there itself, but I gave him a platform which escalated the situation." He also apologised to those who were hurt and said he was cooperating with authorities in any legal proceedings against him.
The controversy began after a clip from More's Gurugram stand-up show circulated online. In it, Jangra was seen recounting an experience from a date and implying that, after spending Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani, he expected something in return from the woman.
The row deepened after a longer version of the interaction surfaced online. That clip showed him describing in graphic detail how he physically grabbed his date and got intimate with her, while More continued to laugh and the audience cheered.

When commuters asked him to move the bus to the correct route, the driver allegedly argued with them instead of complying. Even after traffic police personnel intervened, he reportedly continued driving in the wrong direction.

The Lamborghini owned by Ricky Rai, son of late underworld don-turned-businessman Muthappa Rai, has once again landed in controversy after a video allegedly showing the luxury car emitting flames and being driven recklessly on Bengaluru’s Airport Road went viral on social media on Saturday.
The video, featuring a Lamborghini bearing registration number KA-05-NR-0009, has come under scanner from Devanahalli Traffic Police.
The police are verifying CCTV footage and examining the viral clip to ascertain whether the location and circumstances is currently or that of an old video resurfacing before initiating legal action.
The development comes barely months after Ricky Rai faced legal trouble after drifting the same Lamborghini at Anil Kumble Circle on MG Road and along Cubbon Road on March 21. Initially, Rai had denied being behind the wheel, but CCTV footage later established that he was driving the vehicle.
The latest viral video appears to show the same Lamborghini producing flames from its exhaust while being driven aggressively on the Airport Road stretch, prompting renewed attention from traffic authorities.
A senior police officer from Devanahalli Traffic Police Station said they are currently analysing the viral video and verifying CCTV footage from Sadahalli Toll plaza to determine whether any traffic violations were committed and whether a fresh case needs to be registered.
