Public sector banks lost over 50,000 employees in the last decade, while business volume surged multiple times, forcing fewer officers to handle exponentially higher workloads and stress. Studies show chronic overwork and staff shortages are major causes of burnout and mental-health decline among bankers.

Banks are turning into graveyards of mental peace, where officers sacrifice health, family life and dignity to keep India’s financial system alive. Can a prudent nation afford fatigued minds deciding the fate of crores of public money?
