@horseshoetrl@Brendan_Duke In the context of the amount of tax benefits that accrue to the very wealthy I think it’s fair to see this as scraps to working Americans. There’s no such thing as a few lunch. Working Americans paid for this with tax breaks for the richest Americans
@jimmerjjohnson@vanb82 @PatrickTapLaine The mine itself isn’t in the Boundary waters Canoe Area but it is connected to the same hydrology and there’s a huge risk that mining activities will impact the nearby waters in the BWCA. It’s like your neighbor spraying pesticides that spread into your yard and kill your tomatos
@ExtinctionR The Like Minded Developing Countries group are the most vocal opponents of 1.5 aligned mitigation, instead choosing to focus on finance from developed to developing countries. This is absurd when many of the LMDCs (Saudi Arabia) have higher GDP than some developed countries
@fionaharvey Weak article. The main actors obstructing mitigation action are the LMDCs, a group of non-Annex 1 aka developing countries. Developed countries have repeatedly tried to advance fossil fuel phaseout and 1.5 aligned NDCs.
