Florida, Iowa, Kentucky and Virginia prohibit anyone convicted of a felony from voting. 44 more states prohibit felons who are out of prison, but still on probation, from voting. How can someone convicted of a felony and on parole be allowed to run for office in those 48 states?
@Catbird70353124@alexweprin@AliVelshi@msnow DVR Velshi. He deserves the prestige and viewership of 11 pm eastern weeknights. ( I DVR all of it and watch it when it’s convenient - I’m on Pacific time.)
@maddow@NicolleDWallace When I was in grad school a LONG time ago we discussed the role of Californians who basically stole Japanese-American farms. There was a lot of evidence that they played a major role. Why isn’t that worth even a discussion?
@Noirchick1 Rebecca. I have a black spaniel named Jasper like the one in the movie (and the book), and when I tell people that they say, what’s “Rebecca?”
@Xnarkycritic@gtconway3d Their right to a trial before they are condemned. Habeus corpus means the body of the accused must be allowed to face their accusers.
@Nutrisystem I received an order of frozen food that was defrosted because they did not deliver it to my door but put it in a locker in the heat. I cannot find a way to fix this. I just picked the package up (did not know it was from Nutrisystem) and there is no human available.
@Angry_Staffer That Trump says Walmart can eat the tax shows that despite what he says, he knows that (1) the tariff is paid by us, not the other nation, and (2) Walmart as a retail monopoly can raise it’s prices. (One caveat - technically you need to look at the elasticity of the goods.)
@tomfriedman Thank you thank you for the compassionate and intelligent essay about Joe Biden. I lived in Delaware for 35 years and we were in the same parish. He was just a really great guy, a human being with integrity and true patriotism. I hope critics lay off him for now.
@diannamorg78815@SubmissiveMuse@PhDsciencenerd@mariashriver@DataRepublican 1) We are not in debt because of what we spend - it is what we don’t take in. Trump put huge tax cuts on the income taxes of the very wealthy. They had a finite date they would end, and now he wants to make them permanent.
@diannamorg78815@SubmissiveMuse@PhDsciencenerd@mariashriver@DataRepublican 2) Federal salaries are a very small percentage of total federal spending. They could fire everybody and still not be able to pay the billionaire tax cuts. So they’ve shut down studies, cut major programs (like weather forecasting) - it’s a mess.
@RichardEngel On Velshi this morning, the two of you briefly discussed military funding for Ukraine, and that 70% of it goes back to the US in purchases. YES!!!! I’ve been saying this from the start to no avail. I’m an American historian, and that is how the Marshall Plan worked.
