H.E. President @WilliamsRuto's decision to prioritize investment in production agriculture was initially met with skepticism by some quarters.
Today, however, the results are increasingly evident across the country, with projects such as the Kimira-Oluch Smallholder Farm Improvement Project (KOSFIP) demonstrating how deliberate investments in agricultural productivity are strengthening food security, creating jobs and empowering rural communities.
Located in Homa Bay County, KOSFIP is a flagship irrigation initiative managed by the Lake Basin Development Authority (@LBDAgov) with foundational support from the African Development Bank.
The project operates under a clear management framework in which the National Government retains ownership of the scheme, oversees the core infrastructure, maintains the main gravity-fed canals and finances major rehabilitation works to ensure sustainable agricultural production.
KOSFIP comprises two interconnected irrigation schemes: Kimira, which draws water from River Kibuon and covers 808 hectares of net irrigable land across 44 blocks, and Oluch, which relies on River Awach Tende and spans 666 hectares across 53 blocks.
The scheme has an estimated production potential of approximately 9,000 hectares. Currently, 809 hectares are under production and ready for harvest, underscoring the significant opportunities that remain for future expansion.
Through extensive canal rehabilitation, the project has reclaimed more than 2,000 acres of previously waterlogged swampland, transforming it into productive agricultural land.
The gravity-fed irrigation system eliminates the need for costly fuel or electric pumps, significantly reducing production costs and enabling over 1,500 smallholder farmers to embrace commercial rice farming.
In addition to the popular Oriang rice, the year-round water supply supports the cultivation of maize, tomatoes, kales, watermelons, soybeans and sunflowers, allowing farmers to take advantage of peak market opportunities throughout the year.
The project directly benefits more than 3,000 farming households and contributes to food security and economic activity for over 400,000 residents across the larger Nyanza region.
To ensure the full realization of the project's benefits, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to work closely with local leaders, administrators and communities to protect public investments, strengthen coordination among stakeholders, promote peaceful coexistence and create a secure environment that allows farmers and agribusinesses to realize the project's transformative potential.
Ol Kalou is proving that UDA still has a strong foothold in the hearts of many Murima residents.
UDA's relentless house-to-house campaign is demonstrating the power of grassroots mobilization.
DCP may have underestimated UDA's organizational strength.
Writing off President William Ruto's influence in the Mt. Kenya region could prove to have been a strategic miscalculation.
Those projecting DCP at 60% will find those numbers changing to 30%.
No matter what, never talk ill or undermine the people or institutions that built you even if you think you are bigger than them … I trained & employed many lawyers who are now VERY BIG (or so they think) … It’s why no matter what, I will always be in the corner of HE Moses Wetang’ula who gave me me opportunity when he didn’t know me & I didn’t know anyone!
No matter your current powerful position, the Universe will have the last word! Always remember where you came from!
I have just completed my journey of REPENTANCE for dishonoring the King . For two years ,I spoke ill of my President, accused him and nicknamed him .I realized my mistakes and I have since repented.
I have asked HIM for forgiveness twice .
I am praying for my Forgiveness from Almighty God.
The bible reminds me of this reading,
You can't DISHONOR the KING and expect HIS anointing to impact YOU in His land !
Let's refrain from referring to the King in demeaning names imagery, nick names, if we want to enjoy the blessings of HIS land . Romans 13:7-10
Ezra 4;14.
My Bishop and my women of Hope team ,thank you for leading me in this .
I feel free now.

It's good it is Ruto who has chosen to respond to Gideon online.
