"A whistleblower on the faculty contacted me...his idea was that if I would break the story, then that would clear a path for the mainstream media to cover it.
@coldxman spoke to @nathancofnas about his work on 'race realism' and how he came to cover the Jason Arday scandal.
@CovertQOS sorry i just realised that I am debating race realism with someone that is a 'BBC enjoyer'.
hilarious -- have a good day and enjoy knowing that race is real 😜
This makes the argument for classifying variability with categories stronger, not weaker.
All race realist scientists want to study human variability accurately. That's the entire idea.
How can anyon sign a letter to fire an academic for scientific views when they themselves cannot offer any sort of argument as to why those views are wrong?
Just a cheap appeal to authority?
Absolutely insane.
@PierreBitwise@EricMuraille We based ourselves on what his colleagues --experts in genetics-- have written about "race realism"-- go argue with them please.

@itchy_wheezy@Chris_Segroves There is no "right answer", that's the fundamental problem with people trying to brute-force their ideology into these patterns
It's descriptive, and biology and evolution really doesn't care about your human-imposed values
Someone tell turtles that they are just brute forced ideology and need to ditch the shells real quick
This is all so absurd. Biological variation is REAL

SpaceX engineers spent several days inspecting Ship 40 in the waters off Christmas Island. They collected heatshield samples and gained vital insight into how the vehicle handled reentry with improvements now planned on future vehicles
I am grateful to Rector Petra De Sutter for allowing me to stay at Ghent University. I look forward to continuing to work on the project, “The Future of Liberalism,” for 60% of my working time for the remainder of my one-year postdoc.
I wish to personally thank Ambassador @BillWhiteUSA. It was beyond my imagination that such a person would take an interest in the fate of a postdoc. The Ambassador responded with great support which helped to bring about a just outcome. Thank you, @USAmbToBelgium and @StateDept for defending American values. I am proud of my country.

@CovertQOS Conceivably that it would run counter to their goal of destabilising the west with mass immigration. They actively push it, and studies like that could turn the tide against woke dominance.
@stefanbackstrom False. No race realist scientist thinks this. Total strawman. I do not think this.
I just believe in human variation to a degree that matters for explaining the world. Sounds like you do, too.
Exactly!
This is why we should talk about variance in more granular detail than the ultra broad categories of race. All good science does so.
That variation is what explains so much about the world.
@DoctorMinted There are more genetic variability between two people from Nigeria than the variability that exists between a maoi and a german.
"race" is a useless term for scientific analysis since it's too politically charged.
On the contrary, recognising that groups are real conveys that they are precious and should absolutely have self determination against ethnic disruption that they do not want.
The democratic majority opposed such ethnic disruption for decades in Britain, but it happens anyway.
And I am certainly entitled to advocate against it, as any member of any group is.
As you were told, the genetic data for differences between people does NOT factor into my decisions - I don't want ANYONE to do flood the country with alternative ethnic politics and disrupt our group, and neither do the majority of my countrymen.
This is our right to decide, and the fact that "race isn't real people" use their position to rob us of that right to self determination is evil.
My position is normal, and entirely compatible with universal human rights. If anything, my position is a basic extension of universal rights to all human groups, as well as individuals.
And again, I judge individuals as individuals. Race especially is a poor predictor of much about an individual, as it is too broad to say much of anything, and because groups as so variable within their own ranks.
There are good reasons to focus on intelligence:
1) There is the most data on this.
2) The data is reasonably objective and statistically analyzable.
3) Intelligence is causal for most other differences of interest including crime.
4) Intelligence differences explain world inequality in general, not merely some race gaps in this or that country at some point of time.
No other trait or characteristic can claim this joint set. Some others can claim one or two. Say, physical strength is objectively measurable, we have some data on it (e.g. hand grip strength), and it differs substantially, but it isn't particularly relevant for most human differences.
No one need make any excuses or apologies for studying intelligence and its correlates with various demographic differences. It is the most important topic in social science. More people should be studying it. We know why they aren't, which is itself interesting and important.
I agree with Nathan on this completely.
My concern is that woke ideology may fall back to '"to each in accordance to their need from each in accordance to their ability"
Infinite reparations, *justified* by intrinsic differences
TRIGGERnometry's interview with @nathancofnas proves #Cofnas may be a real force to reckon with. He predicts the failure of @KonstantinKisin's idea: "Why can't you just say you want a meritocracy?" Look at millennials and zoomers, he says, and offers a rational compromise.
He has thought this through: Wokeness will never end if we shrink away from this charged topic. Cofnas won't. He will have that candid, honest conversation about race that we need to have but it won't be the one President Obama and Eric Holder had in mind.

Easy to define woke.
It’s the recognition that a meritocracy will never produce equal outcomes across race, gender etc.. so it uses victimhood as a form of political currency to distribute power to the biggest losers.
