I'd go further: this adds to the increasing evidence showing breast is NOT part of Lynch.
That said, when breast cancer does occur in women with Lynch it tends to loose mismatch repair (so a potential target for immunotherapy) and be medullary in type. https://t.co/n37JP7yqvd
🆕 Cancer risk estimates for Lynch syndrome:
▶️ Large population-based cohort: @uk_biobank
▶️ 830 carriers of pathogenic or likely pathogenic MMR gene variants
▶️ Results suggest that Breast Cancer is not an LS-related cancer

@drmarkporter@DrAnnAger@addenbrookes@LancsHospitals Just realised - my 1st tweet after @Moorfields spent 45 mins last Wed taking an epiretinal membrane off my macula. Amazing. Getting vision back as the bubble they put in is absorbed, ~5% left. Physical sign of the year on Sun with the level half way up my pupil! Tried a selfie 🧐
Well done, in more ways than one by the look of it!
@DrAnnAger & I got married 41y ago on Tuesday. Had to get a mate (later the deputy CMO for Nigeria) to take the cardiac arrest bleep @addenbrookes at 4am so I could get some kip before picking my suit up. Those were the days ...
@drmarkporter@DrAnnAger@addenbrookes 🤔 might be something in that ... I'd just finished a medical 1in2 & went to a surgical 1in3 @LancsHospitals that felt like being on holiday! If I was 2nd on & still up after midnight the Sister would tell me in a lovely Preston accent to "Gerroam t'yer wife, Dr Fraylin!"

The proudest moment of my professional life. To win #teamscirnce@AACR 2024 is beyond amazing. I cannot thank @ProfEmmaCrosbie, Prof Evan’s and the team everything. So proud to have impacted the care of #lynchsyndrome carriers. We do it for the patients. @FBMH_UoM@EdinUni_CRH
We just want to do a shout-out and say a huge ‘thank you’ to our fantastic Trustees & Members who were involved in this work - @ruairidhm, @Know_HG, @JoD66, Mike Ormerod & @Doctor_IMF.
We know when you have #LongCovid how much work like this takes out of you, so thank you all.🙏
@LynchSyndromeUK well done & thank you for another fantastic conference on Saturday at U of Warwick. An inspiring gathering of dedicated people with #lynchsyndrome, researchers and clinicians with shared goals to improve knowledge, care experience and outcomes for families.

@longcovidisreal@long_covid@dbkell@resiapretorius@polybioRF@microbeminded2 Alas, PIP and similar are geared up to refusal, not caring. Had similar a decade ago after 2y of long term sick for work induced depression. Said I was perfectly capable of working (as a Medical Consultant). The hell I was.
Shame, shame, shame on @guardian for publishing such headline & on #LongCovidAwarenessDay of all days.
Study DID NOT find it’s time to stop using the term #LongCovid which shouldn’t be between quotation marks.
Ask yourself in whose interest this dismissal & stigmatisation is in.
@Doctor_IMF@long_covid There was a deliberate, concerted effort on Friday to poison public perception through the media. Even if corrections/retractions are made, the damage is already done. LC advocates don't have journalists in our pockets like these people do. We need scientists/Drs to speak up.
@Macaroni62 @long_covid Indeed, a totally different condition.
The study was badly done, poorly analysed, and hasn't been peer-reviewed or published. Apart from that "it's alright"! 🤦🏻
@ThoughtOutlaw@Telegraph@covidinquiryuk 🤔
A. Lazy reposting of a substandard press release without questioning it? (Cockup)
B. Put under pressure by a party with vested interests? (Conspiracy)
C. A+B?
@Dr2NisreenAlwan@guardian And the @Telegraph ran an almost identical piece on #LongCovid. This is pseudo-science of the worst and dangerous order, which really makes one question the incentives and motivation behind such so-called articles.
