Something to ponder as you head out to vote today, for free. In the Library's Rosa Parks Papers collection, there's a receipt for the poll tax she had to pay to vote in Alabama in 1956. Poll taxes, a Jim Crow-era voter suppression tool, were not abolished federally until 1964.
VP Harris responds to Speaker Johnson walking back his comments on repealing the CHIPS Act:
"Let's be clear why he walked it back. Because it's not popular. And their agenda is not popular."
(Johnson claims he "misheard" the q, watch the original video to see for yourself)
In recent days, Trump and his surrogates have:
âPromised to repeal the CHIPS Act, which would cost thousands of American manufacturing jobs
âPromised to raise taxes on imported goods by up to âone thousand percent,â which would skyrocket your prices
âPromised to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would rip away health care from millions of Americans
âPromised that Trumpâs economic plans will cause âhardshipâ for the middle class, saying itâs ânecessaryâ
I've talked with a lot of voters this election, but one conversation has stuck with me. James Johnson is 46, white, from Mississippi. He's never voted in his life, but he's voting this year, for Harris, because of abortion.
Here's what he told me:

đšđšđšđš Heads up, Philadelphia!!! đšđšđšđš
Almost 4000 flawed ballots have been found in Philadelphia.
Election workers held a press conference and are urging folks to scan the QR code to make sure that you didn't fill one out.
They outline the steps to take if your name is on the list.
Trump dismisses Puerto Ricans who are outraged at his campaign surrogate calling the island âa floating island of garbage,â saying itâs not a âbig dealâ
Just to be clear, "a floating island of garbage includes THE PEOPLE IN IT." This is calling Puerto Ricans garbage.
I can also confirm, as someone who worked ON THIS TEAM in 2016, that these speeches are READ IN ADVANCE.
This was APPROVED.
No billionaire should pay a lower tax rate than working-class Americans.
@KamalaHarris and I support a billionaire minimum tax â and weâll ensure corporations pay their fair share.
I'm telling you... this is the sleeper issue of the race... The Harris plan to let Medicare cover home health care in lieu of having seniors deplete all of their savings to qualify for Medicaid is huge for folks in this situation.
Today, Trump:
âAbruptly ended his interview after it was reported that he is canceling interviews because he is âexhaustedâ
âAppeared to fall asleep at a roundtable with voters
âAimlessly walked around in circles on stage after his microphone stopped working
âOnce again attacked the city of Detroit
Donald Trump is dodging debates and ducking interviews. His campaign team says itâs because of âexhaustion.â
Well, if heâs exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises the question: Is he fit for the toughest job in the world?
If you are turned away at the polls because your name is not on the register, don't walk away.
Say this:
I REQUEST A PROVISIONAL BALLOT AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
Don't let them steal your vote.
Minnesota @LtGovFlanagan wore many hats today, with the Women's Pheasant Hunt in Austin, the Minnesota Corn Grower's event in Eyota, and early voting in Hennepin County. All this before cheering on the Lynx in Minneapolis.
Trump's attack on overtime pay is just another way he's siding with corporate greed over hardworking Americans.
Workers see through the lies and arenât buying his BS anymoreâ and weâre fighting back.
