@Benlinebandit This is down to the combined efforts of the SNP and Labour governments.
It was an incredibly foolish thing to allow to happen when our dependence on oil and gas will be for another three decades.
Once again politics and dogma trumps common sense.
@AVMikhailova@AndyBurnhamGM There are limits to how far you can keep on expanding the public sector.
So why is the private sector not providing and growing job opportunities across the country?
@DavidDavisMP@DPJHodges Really quite funny. News leaked that Jones maybe looking at whether he might have a tilt in any leadership contest.
Next minute damaging leaks from inside the Cabinet Office or No10 office basically smearing him.
Jo public just look at this Labour government and think 🙄 😣
@colin109865392@DebsKHSM@Gails_Bakery Expanded too fast and I suspect private equity / financial engineering are now involved somewhere.
They have a good product in terms of making savoury on the go food on prem which differentiates them. People are tired of the standard sugar based offerings.
@DebsKHSM@Gails_Bakery Visiting several Gails around the region on a regular basis I’ve concluded it’s down to local management. Some make a point of ensuring tables/floors are constantly cleaned, others do it on a casual rota basis.
Some of it’s down to staffing levels which is a growing hosp. issue.
@alexmassie Core SNP people don’t seem to care regardless of whatever corruption is exposed in a governing party.
They also don’t seem to care about the integrity and reputation of the Scottish Legal system which is more worrying.
A grad's attractiveness to employers is the net of the brand power of their subject and their university. The drop off is pretty brutal and getting worse.
Unfortunately, unless it's for sheer interest, I wouldn't suggest anyone study arts/humanities outside the top 5 or so.
@rcolvile Daughter who has worked in and run small businesses told me it’s impossible for small startups to hire young people now - it’s too costly and far too risky.
Daniel Finkelstein is right. Nicola Sturgeon wants Scotland to believe that the politician who controlled the SNP, dominated Scottish politics and tolerated no dissent somehow knew nothing about what was happening inside her own party. Questions about the money were shut down. Critics were frozen out. Loyalists closed ranks. Now, after Peter Murrell’s conviction, she says she bears no responsibility. You cannot demand total control when things go well and plead ignorance when everything falls apart. Scots are no longer buying it.
@enough_is_enuf It’s my belief this is the bigger scandal to come out of all of this saga.
The integrity of the Scottish legal system has been called into question.
The People of Scotland should be demanding an enquiry into what has happened.
@MrJohnNicolson@theSNP Interesting that the police started off by trying to find out where the ‘ring fenced’ £600,000 had gone following a complaint and in the process stumbled across the separate Murrell £400,000 embezzlement.
We still don’t have an answer on what happened to the £600,000 !
@damian_thirsty I have been saying for ages, if they ever got their fabled indy they would all run a mile, why take on the responsibility of actually being in charge, far better to stay on the gravy train, living life high on the hog and blaming WM for everything.
@Joanna19997073@SandyofSuffolk The water industry have been trying to build the Abingdon reservoir for over a decade. Politicians are fearful of pushing it through. Even if started now it wouldn’t be operational before 2040.
The same applies to two other proposed reservoirs. Local Politicians running scared.
@Fat_Jacques@TypeForVictory And I’m guessing the universities also want that data firmly kept under wraps.
Students are starting to wise up and are questioning why they are being saddled with debts that a future career will never pay off.
@SaulStaniforth The government (HMT) won’t do it because they have no idea how to fund public ownership of the water industry and the 50 billion investment liabilities that would appear on the government books.
@premnsikka Jeez - didn’t we learn from last time around. All the PFI/PPP contracts from last time are now coming to an end having cost the UK a fortune and leaving a legacy of unfunded liabilities.
The Politicians keep trying to hide funding liabilities off the government books!
@Angelab70799008@joannaccherry@theSNP Get real;
She’s basically deflecting and dissembling in all directions including crying the poor me argument hoping people will get bored of it all.
The fact is she was at the centre of an administration using abuse of power, corrupt practices, coverups and lying about it all.
@PolitlcsUK He’s just ignored everything Blair wrote in his paper about what is wrong with the Labour Government.
Coupled with what we know about the PLP and their drive for taxation and increasing benefits the electorate will take a view.
This is a one term government.
