I am heartbroken to share this..the @NewsHour’s beloved long-time Friday night analyst Mark Shields, who for decades wowed us with his encyclopedic knowledge of American politics, his sense of humor and mainly his big heart, has passed away at 85, with his wife Anne at his side.
@BillKristol She’d better keep that boy home the rest of his life. And by all means don’t let him read the Bible—they’ve got stuff in there that will send him over the edge.
This is so well deserved. @JeremyGorner is one of the most all-in reporters in the city. Works harder than most anybody. This is especially happy news for those of us who also had the honor of working with his father, science writer Peter Gorner, another hall of famer.
Sasse:”The violence that Americans witnessed... is not...the work of ‘a few bad apples.’ It is the blossoming of a rotten seed that took root in the Republican Party some time ago and has been nourished by treachery, poor political judgment, and cowardice” https://t.co/uYqZVEPJu2
And of course, many, many thanks to @ND_JED, @DonWycliff and @richard_g_jones for opening the doors to this opportunity. Prof. Jones has always helped lead me to the right path, and upon completion of this fellowship I can confidently say this was no different.

@maddow I still get chills when I see intentional or casual swearing in print journalism. I know this trend has been around for at least 5-6 years now but still, whenever I see a person with authority swear, I feel like I’m six again and I’m about to be sent to my room. It never fails.
“I would encourage citizens to sound out their choices, to actually say them aloud. ‘Because I support tax cuts and deregulation, I will vote for a bigot.’ Or: ‘Because I am concerned about religious freedom, I will support a racist.’” https://t.co/4ypnAS5R8I
“Trump inhabits a building stricken by rampant infection, emptied of most employees, prowled by people in hazmat suits— all because of his own ignorance, arrogance and recklessness. He rules over an empire of empty sets. He rages and dictates to the void.” https://t.co/f5ygFTOXAU
Opposing Amy Coney Barrett for her religious views was a very bad idea in 2017. It is today. “Her questioners displayed a confusion of the intellect so profound, a disregard for constitutional values so reckless, that it amounts to anti-religious bigotry.” https://t.co/4AfSCTxknu
