Do you see him saying they are the first? Also they are very different motors. BMW and Renault use wound-rotor motors with no magnets. Tesla kept a permanent magnet motor and just took the rare earths out. Wound-rotor packs usually get bigger or lose efficiency. Tesla is saying they kept PM torque density so the car doesn’t need more battery to hold range
