I’ve worked in several different mental health facilities and with many different populations so far in my career (Inpatient, Outpatient, Crisis Stabilization, Child & Adolescent, School settings, etc), but I think corrections has my heart 🫶🏾.

Thursday marked my one year work anniversary at one of the biggest correctional facilities in the Southeastern United States.

It also marked 1 month of me being employed at the second biggest County Jail in Georgia.

I could write a book on what I’ve learned so far.

I’m in Austin, TX eating my weight in tacos as I type this. My new years starts when I touch back down in Atlanta.

I’m ready to get back into shape. I’m not really out of shape, just fell off a tad bit due to some extenuating circumstances.

It takes a special kind of person to not only work in corrections, but to actually get through to the residents, and make a difference.

You’ve gotta be built for it or they will take advantage of you and swallow you whole. The legal system is no joke.
