Iโve worked in several different mental health facilities and with many different populations so far in my career (Inpatient, Outpatient, Crisis Stabilization, Child & Adolescent, School settings, etc), but I think corrections has my heart ๐ซถ๐พ.
Thursday marked my one year work anniversary at one of the biggest correctional facilities in the Southeastern United States.
It also marked 1 month of me being employed at the second biggest County Jail in Georgia.
I could write a book on what Iโve learned so far.
Iโm in Austin, TX eating my weight in tacos as I type this. My new years starts when I touch back down in Atlanta.
Iโm ready to get back into shape. Iโm not really out of shape, just fell off a tad bit due to some extenuating circumstances.
Iโm so ready to move into a bigger space. I havenโt even found a house that I like yet.
But, Iโm about to start packing and setting some things into motion.
It takes a special kind of person to not only work in corrections, but to actually get through to the residents, and make a difference.
Youโve gotta be built for it or they will take advantage of you and swallow you whole. The legal system is no joke.
Any of my UT ๐ people going to the Georgia game this weekend in Athens? Iโll be there with my baby sister in the student section upsetting all the Georgia fans.
