i genuinely think a solid 70% of people on this website who believe they're Morally Pure Revolutionaries are fucking imbeciles. a corporate VP role is middle management that makes like 170k. this is a regular 32 year old woman and a horrible tragedy, not class warfare you idiots
The left has some good ideas, but they can't win elections outside small deep-blue districts. Okay, they can defeat a political dynasty in a mayoral primary, but they'll never get a mandate in a city-wide election. Sure, they got a mandate, but that's in New York City. It's not like they'll win in the New Jersey suburbs. Looks like the left won in the New Jersey suburbs, but they can't win state-wide races in purple states. Okay, they defeated the sitting Maine governor, but it's not like they can win...
I need some of yall to realize that Boston’s Mayor, Michelle Wu, is running unopposed in today’s election.
A progressive city Mayor who is so popular that no one is running against her.
Hasn’t happened in 30 years.
She is ALSO the future of this party 😮💨
the worst thing to come out of leftist culture is the idea that if you’re not constantly researching and talking about injustices in the world you’re somehow complicit. the ppl i know who fell into this culture literally can’t post family vacation photos on ig without adding “i can’t believe we get to go to the beach while there are starving children in gaza.”
zero starving children have been saved this way, but many well-meaning wokes have developed extremely neurotic fixations that absolutely tank their mental health bc of this culture.
Ezra is so perverse in this actually. At one point Coates emotionally points out how viscerally Kirk attacked various communities, including Trans folks, & says he is for talking to anyone but he’s going to be clear that Kirk was a bad guy and that he won’t legitimize abuse of his victims by eliding that fact. Ezra then argues that trans people are vulnerable bc Trump won, implying that if we had been more open to transphobes, Trump might not be president. It’s so sick. Cotes tries to point out that there are other choices Dems could’ve made that would’ve enabled them to win, for example, not running Biden. But someone like Ezra only sees Dem losses as an excuse to argue that the party should move right.
@0liviajulianna You are a mouthpiece for the very establishment that was indicted in this election. Take your L, your corporate Dem money, and go shill somewhere else lol
@FindDatDoodle You still haven’t actually addressed my point. You’re just pointing out grievances with AOC. Point me to a politician, who’s further left, with just as much power within and beyond the party. Also fwiw, she just raised $$ for Gazans a week ago. Twitter ≠ direct action.
Oh my god shut upppppp. “POLITICIAN has said things that appeal to a demo of voters separate from me. That must mean POLITICIAN can’t be trusted.”
US politics will never match communist or even socialist values. Celebrate candidates who pose the smallest threat to that ethos!
@FindDatDoodle The key issue is that Dems are resistant to progress. Until there’s a groundswell to change that, or formation of a real oppo party, AOC is someone we need. She’s operating within a flawed system where compromise must occur. You can either have power and play ball or cede power.
@FindDatDoodle DNC gaffe and the occasional choice (eg backing Biden) aside, I don’t know how leftists can look at AOC as an adversary. Find me another politician with her sway and influence and viewpoints. I agree we should do more but this animus is purity politicking.
@FindDatDoodle Nothing you’ve said refutes what I pointed out. It’s reprehensible that the Democratic Party has enabled & funded a genocide. But that is (essentially) the party position. Flouting it doesn’t (often) get you institutional power. If it did, more reps would likely vocalize it.
@FindDatDoodle Do you think it’s possible to accumulate political capital and power in the Democratic Party while openly flouting its policies and politicians?
Power mandates compromise. AOC learned to play ball, and I’d much rather have her in power than people like Schumer.
