The Country Land and Business Association says the new £1m cap on agricultural inheritance tax relief will "harm 70,000 farms". That's 1/3 of all farms.
What does the actual data show? Less than 500 farms/year will be pay more tax as a result of this change every year. Possibly as few as 100.
Our report is finally published. Thanks to my

That’s what they say now.
Don’t vote for parties supporting Israel or Rwanda deportations until they U turn and show this in actions.
Unless you want to also be at risk of a plausible genocide or deportations paid for from aid budget.
NEW 🧵:
American politics is in the midst of a racial realignment.
I think this is simultaneously one of the most important social trends in the US today, and one of the most poorly understood.
The politics of America’s housing issues in one chart:
• People and politicians in blue states say they care deeply about the housing crisis and homelessness but keep blocking housing so both get worse
• Red states simply permit loads of new homes and have no housing crisis
Good Lord, people. One more time.
1. "Born in the USA" is NOT a patriotism song.
2. "Hallelujah" is NOT a Christmas song.
And for the love of God
3. "Perfect Day" is NOT a wedding song.
#StreetScar We’ve all seen this: the freshly laid paving, newly laid granite setts or Yorkstones lovingly laid on a slow street or in front of a freshly repaired parade of shops. Within months, weeks or, sometimes days, a slice or a square of them are pulled up thoughtlessly...

The state of Scotland’s public data is generally poor despite pronouncements about how transparent we are. We do deserve better, without having to pay for access to information @scotgov@RegistersOfScot
The Scottish equivalent only has 3,000 entries - but it's updated only once a year, costs £300, and is subject to licensing restrictions which probably prevent a map like this being created.
The Scottish land registry have not aced this. At all.

I do think that the older generation’s ongoing belief that they worked hard to buy homes and younger people must be prioritising phones and other nonsense is behind the lack of attention. When we cover this, we always get emails about ‘I lived on beans, they should too’ etc
So in calling for inheritance tax to be scrapped, you’re saying “I want to make sure that the children of the wealthiest people in the country are able to receive a huge amount of unearned income without paying tax”

Quick thread on inheritance tax:
Something that is massively under-discussed in this debate is how the “it’s unfair” argument is completely flipped on its head when you consider it from the perspective of the next generation instead of the person passing on the inheritance.
