‘He sat stoned and shellacked behind the Resolute Desk, a consort of the feral fanned around him, an array of feckless sycophancy. He spoke yet again of his apex obsession-his beloved Reflecting Pool.
Something he had barely noticed in his first term but now that the worms of time had burrowed deeper into his brain, it was all he could think about.
Hell, even thoughts of Vanky didn’t do it anymore; or what’s her name, it sounded like what a Dave Matthews fan named their Chocolate Labrador in 1996. She was always clamoring for content and to be his plus one.
Oh well, never mind.
No, the pool would be his swan song. Hs magnum opus, a work to rival the finest architectural masterpieces of Orlando, Florida. He dreamed of walking upon its American flag blue waters wearing a gold crown and white robe as every woman who ever appeared on the cover of Maxim waded topless around him. Glorious.
Meanwhile.
A nation clamored for leadership, accepting the once unthinkable in the hope of even a mildly tempered change.
The funk of compromised morality hung over the proceeding like a pall.
The horses were hot and the stables were musty, hay was running low. It was gonna be a rancid summer, short on beans and long on bullets. Two-hundred-and-fifty years and they still barely had their act together.
All fireworks, flash over facts. Squalid misfortune. They worshiped wealth and empty treasure and endless trickery. The banjos brayed a tune of lost valor. The heartsick headed for the woods. The rumble of diesel and desecration filled the air.
And he droned on, into the hour of retribution, while the smell of burnt bridges floated up the Potomac. Sweaty hordes girded for a fight.
And on and on he went…only night could save us now.’
In Kruger National Park, South Africa, veteran ranger Sipho Nkosi suffered a heart attack while on solo patrol. His vehicle was found empty, and search teams began looking for him.
What the park’s remote trail cameras revealed broke the hearts of everyone who saw the footage.
An old bull elephant — known to rangers as “Mnumzane” (Zulu for “Sir”) — had found Sipho’s body. For three full days and nights, the elephant refused to leave. He stood guard, gently touching the ranger with his trunk, chasing away hyenas and jackals that came too close, and even covering parts of the body with branches and leaves.
On the third night, the elephant was still there — visibly grieving, swaying slowly beside his fallen friend. Only when the full recovery team arrived with vehicles did Mnumzane finally step back, watching solemnly as they carried Sipho away.
Park officials later confirmed that Sipho had rescued this same elephant as a calf years earlier after poachers killed his mother. The elephant had never forgotten.
One colleague who viewed the footage whispered:
“He didn’t come to say goodbye. He came to make sure no one disrespected his brother.”
Mnumzane still visits the exact spot regularly. Rangers now leave fresh water and fruit there in honor of both.
The opening 10 minutes of The Way We Were is emotionally devastating. I rewatched this on Saturday after word broke that Barbra Streisand may honor Robert Redford at the #Oscars. This movie is impossibly good. What am I even supposed to say? Sunday is going to be so fucking hard
The municipality in Dubai has set up an initiative called Ihsan—smart feeding stations for cats that were abandoned by some expats who left them like cowards. I’m proud to live in a city that takes care of its cats. We love our cats.
The Trump Administration's choice to end their "Shield for the Americas" summit with the Monty Python Flying Circus theme march is inspired. I take back everything bad I ever said about the regime
A USA full of illiterate, racist, fascist reprobates vote in a genocidal paedophile rapist as POTUS
Leading the world into total chaos, culminating in an illegal attack on Iran
The rest of the world bears the brunt of this, its economy now on verge of collapse
Thanks America.
Ross: Your new policy, and it is a new policy requiring your personal signoff on expenditures over $100,000 has contributed to many of these delays…. You had time to sign off on the purchase of two luxury private Gulfstream jets for your personal travel $170 million and we've heard about the new Boeing 737 that you're in the process of outfitting Evidently, you were satisfied that there was no fraud, waste, and abuse involved in the jets.
Noem: Joe Biden failed North Carolina.
Ross: Joe Biden provided greater relief. Joe Biden showed up. Joe Biden didn't lie about what was going on on the ground. I don't even want to get into what Donald Trump did during the campaign
Today, U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy dragged a Marine veteran out of a room while he was peacefully protesting the war against Iran, possibly breaking his arm.
RETWEET if you think Sheehy is a disgrace!
