BREAKING: Wigington v. MacMartin case has been dismissed. @DougMacMartin

I don't have access to the full order, only the first page shown here. But it's clear the case is over, and Dane Wigington lost. 👍
This edition of the Atkinson Update captures an innovative mix of developments led by @AtkinsonCenter Faculty Fellows, including @DougMacMartin's continued solar geoengineering analysis, with support from Cornell Atkinson. https://t.co/CmB2TDMEik
"A group of international scientists led by Cornell is – more rigorously and systematically than ever – evaluating if and how the stratosphere could be made “brighter,” reflecting more incoming sunlight so that a warming Earth maintains its cool."

@cristiproist @baylorfk@theAGU I have had funding that explicitly would not cover pub fees. I’ve had papers that weren’t published til long after funding expired. Are we expected to write personal checks? How is limiting who can publish a good thing?
@KevinSurprise Thanks - unclear to me who falls under your (IMO vague) "advocates" category and what you think they are advocating; I infer you didn't intend to include those of us who argue that more research is needed to better understand benefits and risks...
@SolarGeoeng I wish people would stop using deliberately misleading terms like "advocates" or "supporters" when describing people who believe in thoughtful evaluation so that any future decisions are better informed. (And baffled as to what here is disturbing?)
@GeoeWatchDebunk@geoengineering1@DKeithClimate@KenCaldeira@AlanRobock No, at least not directly; the scenario is 1000x more SO2 than a large SAI deployment, so instead of warming the tropopause a bit, it eliminates it. Tropopause warming and associated increase in strat H2O is included in SAI modeling and offsets cooling a bit
New article out this week on SRM and peace

Why even spend time thinking about how solar geoengineering could interact with peace?
Because of concern about a self-reinforcing doom loop ... (1/5)
Happy to share that the full program for the @GordonConf Seminar on Climate Engineering is now online. Applications from early career scientists are still open until May 28. Join us in Maine this summer! @DanVisioni@DougMacMartin https://t.co/StWEcKGnmq
Reminder: the abstract deadline for an oral presentation at the early career (student/postdoc) Climate Engineering GRS is this Friday March 25! https://t.co/StWEcKGnmq
Some (limited) travel/registration support is available for early career folk in particular who are working on CE (aka solar geoengineering or SRM) and need support to attend GRC/GRS; pls contact me by Mar 25, include affil. and proposed poster title.
Wanted: Executive Director for Harvard's Solar Geoengineering Research Program
We seek a leader with practical policy experience in an ENGO, government, or university center with a substantial applied policy component
