Paul Offit is the co-inventor of the rotavirus vaccine. When he describes what is happening at the CDC under RFK Jr., he is not doing so from the sidelines.

The Offit piece documents two suppressed studies. The first: CDC researchers found the RSV vaccine during pregnancy and an RSV antibody for newborns reduced hospitalizations in children 0-2 months old by more than 50 percent. RSV kills up to 300 children a year and hospitalizes up to 80,000. The standard CDC embargo and press kit never went out. No media outreach. The public didn't hear about it.

The second is the one with the documented contradiction. CDC researchers found that between September and December 2025, healthy adults who received the COVID vaccine reduced urgent care visits by 50 percent and hospitalizations by 55 percent. RFK Jr.'s interim CDC director Jay Bhattacharya delayed publication, claiming the methodology was flawed.

One week before that decision, the CDC published an influenza vaccine effectiveness study using the identical methodology. The same methodology had been used in COVID vaccine studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and The Lancet going back to 2021.

Dr. Fiona Havers, a 13-year CDC veteran and former senior vaccine policy adviser, said it plainly: "This is definitely an escalation of this administration's undermining of CDC science. The fact that they are now blocking this is extremely concerning."

The methodology was not the problem. The finding was the problem.
