And another one! I am delighted to be presenting on the topic of ADHD in Women and girls for @SeedTalks in Edinburgh next month. Do come along, and spread the word.
I’m delighted to be delivering this talk again for @SeedTalks I spoke on this in Glasgow back in May, and it’s great to be spreading the word. Tickets here: https://t.co/Dsi0shdFlT
As #WAIMH2023 draws to a close (one more event to go) a big shout out to the many passionate folk from Scotland giving great presentations and flying the flag🏴

I still can't quite believe that no mention of the children was made with the announcement of 'free childcare'. It's time that the children were at the centre of discussions. If institutionalising children at the age of 9 months is the plan, then those institutions need to be full of professionals who know what they're doing and are in it for the long-term.
@SharonAErskine1 Oh no! I was so nervous Sharon - would’ve been lovely to see you both. I enjoyed it though - got into my groove and it was a nice crowd - learned a lot from them. Hope to do it again 😊
I haven’t yet watched #Panorama - ADHD Clinics Exposed, so will make a more informed comment when I have done so.
I am, however, initially very concerned about the impact this is already having on the #ADHD community in the UK.
If we are fortunate enough to be able to find the resources, many of us HAVE NO CHOICE but to seek a private diagnosis, given the long waiting times on the NHS.
The majority of diagnostic clinicians for ADHD are incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and careful. Many have worked or still work for the NHS doing exactly the same job, and they do not carry out a different assessment process.
The ADHD Collective sincerely hopes this type of reporting does not add to the stigma of ADHD as a made-up, excuse-based, or insignificant condition - but early responses to the programme are worrying.
We wish more reporting time could be spent highlighting the reality of life with ADHD, furthering it's acceptance in society, and helping those who struggle with this serious, life-long, neurodevelopmental condition on a daily basis.
In the meantime:
YOUR STRUGGLES ARE VALID AND AREN’T YOUR FAULT
ADHD is real and highly stigmatised. Let’s all stick together when under ‘attack’ like this. WE WILL beat stigma and as we do so, there will be inevitable backlashes.

This is making me angry… ADHD is a condition with no reliable biomarkers. Diagnosis depends on people answering questions and discussing their life experiences. Clinics are not being fraudulent - they’re trying to meet your expressed need. https://t.co/deVsY02YOn
@UnlockingBirth I understand I would need to come off pill to assess hormones before HRT could be considered. Pill working fine for now, so no need. I do wonder if I could get better effects with HRT as monthly fluctuation mood/energy still there, just not as bad.
Started listening to this live a couple of weeks ago and only just finished today. A very good and important listen - made me cry. It's tempting to assume things are much better for kids now, but it is still patchy. We must do better! https://t.co/bbd5jB7GyL
Our online survey into the relationship between ADHD symptoms and mental health is still open.
Please visit https://t.co/k0uCEXlvQd for more info & survey.
Please consider taking part in this important research.
Any RTs greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was on hold with @AutoWindscreens for nearly 30 mins just now listening to their recorded messages about their award-winning customer service and 24/7 helpline. They have £100 of my money but they have now cut me off. What the hell?
@heidirgardner @hm_morgan @AnneBuckle2 SO delighted for you @heidirgardner! Nothing like finally getting that promotion then promptly handing in your notice - what a feeling! It's been great working with you and I look forward to seeing your new role develop. Come to Highland for a walk and I'll buy you a doughnut :)
