A pediatrician touring a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier during Veteran Disability Exam training with @VeteranMedGroup.
This is *not* the career I envisioned for myself when I finished peds residency in 2014.
It’s so much better. 🛫
Ironically, some of the most fun and satisfying work I’ve done in my career as a Pediatrician has been performing Veteran Disability Exams 🇺🇸 (yes, for adults).
It turns out that the federal government requires CIVILIAN physicians and clinicians to perform these exams! 🤯
Exploring per-diem, locums, and independent telemedicine gave me clinical flexibility without drowning in admin.
Then expert witness, VA disability, aesthetics, and social security consulting exposed me to the wide world of lucrative, non-clinical careers for all physicians ✨
@DocDifferently Thank you @DocDifferently as a Physician owned company we pride ourselves on training leaders in the medical expert field of VA Disability.
We Black female Physicians make up <2% of Physicians and this is the prime reason. There is nothing implicit about you being told to give a lecture on racism and then placed on leave immediately after by your institution! Complicit bias at work! Please read
@BabySavers@WeillCornell@sw1tch1tup @semperdiced I also think the institution which issued her an MPH degree must make a statement if it wasn’t WCM as she is a walking public hazard and needs to be quarantined and have her degree removed! Such an insult to the healthcare community and the world!
