🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.
The labor market is definitely going to change. Some jobs will go away. Some will be augmented. New jobs will be created, too.
Someone has to manage the AI. Someone will need to deal with deepfakes and help people sort falsified things from authentic things.

Are there any jobs that have been replaced by AI? Which jobs wont be replaced by AI? My first thought is that jobs focused on mechanical skills still need humans. Your thoughts?
Seems like the computer created knowledge work and now we are watching computers slowly take it away. The non-knowledge work careers are touched by computers, yes, but computers can’t completely take over those jobs.
I’m sure humans will use AI in some ways to do these jobs better. I also think we are a ways off before AI is replacing humans as doctors, nurses, social workers. AI can’t clean my house or take care of my children.
Knowledge work is at risk most, it seems. The work that produces the less tangible products. Maybe eventually robots run by AI will be able to build homes, but until then? It’s humans. The construction workers on the highways, still human.
Physical and mechanical stuff, like… AI can’t style my hair, give me a pedicure, do my makeup, clean my house. AI can’t build or repair my home. Can’t trim these trees, maintain my lawn, or repair my HVAC or car.
Possible new critical media literacy challenge: AI might make it even more difficult for folks to tell fake stuff from real stuff. People will need to dig deeper and THINK. IDK how I feel about it.
