Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien met today with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, United CEO Scott Kirby, and representatives from the airline industry to discuss how the government shutdown is hurting aviation operations and workers nationwide.

The Teamsters Union represents 10,000 mechanics at United Airlines alone, in addition to countless others being impacted by the ongoing shutdown.

Just as he did one month ago, O’Brien urged Congress to pass a clean short-term funding bill to defend American workers and immediately reopen the government.

“I represent 1.3 million working men and women in this country. At the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, we took a position weeks ago: pass a clean CR. Get to the table. Negotiate a deal,” O’Brien said. “Do not put working people in the middle of a problem they should not be involved in.”

It's not rocket science. Typically when negotiations actually take place in good faith it's far less than that.
