UPDATE: Government has launched the first nationwide baseline survey of buildings to establish the number of structures across the country and assess their resilience to disasters. Morris Oleng, Head of Research at the National Building Review Board (NBRB), said recruitment of enumerators is underway ahead of the exercise, which is expected to begin in September. The findings are due to be released in December. Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NBRB and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), UBOS Executive Director Chris Mukiza urged developers to comply with building regulations to safeguard lives, property, and the environment.
