Someone came up to me after the presentation and said:
"Those pictures of the kids weren't just any kids, right?"
I responded, "You caught that, did you?"
He confirmed and told me he was whispering that "those aren't just any kids" to his friend during the presentation.

YES... YES... YES... YES... and YES!!!!
As a father of two young girls who are directly impacted by the current experiment... and as someone deeply involved in technology for over 30 years; I can 100% agree with every... single... word... she said!
Certainly not implying it's of *production quality* at this point, but passing along that @AvaloniaUI templates for #visualbasic now available in source form at https://t.co/OTOhrbyIfO ; will will publish as nuget packages after some time for testing and (hopefully) feedback.
Is a "one-time pin" really a one time pin if you have to repeat the process every time you authenticate? Is this the seriously the best thing that *smart people* could think of? Every time I go through the process I feel like I'm being a bit insulted... or is that just me?
@salelele It is a desktop application that (hopefully) will run on Windows and Linux (possibly macOS). No emulator required. And the goal is to reproduce the original as much as possible.
Posit the question... what if there were a *true* replacement to QBasic? What would that look like? How fast could it run? What would the overall Edit/Run (F5) experience be? Here's a sneak peek at what could be...
@chrisjohnson_nz I see some of the comments somewhat "justifying" the *steps backward* due to the technology changing. In the end it's all about driving pixels to the screen, push/pull data from a storage medium and accepting user input. So, really, there isn't any excuse.
You know... you have to give it to a project maintainer that is attempting to educate a group on how there's no interest by a particular community when several from that very community are actively engaged in that very conversation. #visualbasic#dotnet#notdeadyet
@richcampbell I've definitely been there... thank you git/@github for the many rescues they've provided over the past recent years for situations just like this. ;-)
@grokys@AvaloniaUI@OpenSilverTeam This is great! However, doesn't address the vocal negativity toward #visualbasic by members within the @avaloniaui community. CLR/CLS/CLI is about language diversity and choice; VB developers should not be made to feel bad for their choice because it doesn't match your choice.
@AvaloniaUI is a great looking platform; however, it seems to be filled with those that that believe that "#visualbasic is dead". And it's too bad... it's so very close to welcoming us - limited only to what appears to be a people problem. At least the @OpenSilverTeam loves us!
@MStrehovsky Awesome article. Earlier I commented that I wondered if it was possible to do this sort of stuff in #visualbasic. Why YES... yes you can! Not able to use bflat to get to the smallest size - but my VB version also runs on Linux; at about 2mb. ๐คฏ
