A risk manager is really what you are when you say you're a Forex trader.

Your job is to allocate risk in the highest yielding areas of the market cycle. The appropriate amount of risk, placed at the appropriate time of the market cycle is what will make you a great trader.

Keep it simple. The more you dig into candle formations, pattern formations and useless indicators, the more you will cause unnecessary confusion for yourself and delay your progress.

Allocate your risk in the right areas with the right position size. If the position you're entering cannot be comfortably opened without a stoploss, you've got 1 of 2 problems or both.
First problem is you're risking too much! The size of your position is too big for you to comfortably leave it alone. Second problem, you don't know where you stand in the market cycle.

A real trader will have a basic idea of where they stand in the cycle and they'll know how much risk to allocate in that particular area.

Do you know how to allocate risk in the market cycles? Or are you gambling on candlestick/pattern formations?
