A 350-foot hole drilled on Duke’s Central Campus is a hands-on classroom to explore the geologic history and potential geothermal energy in Durham https://t.co/EhnjDS8Dlz
Nicholas School researchers are assessing the geothermal potential of the Durham Basin by drilling a 400-foot-deep hole in @DukeU's campus. The project is also giving students in the ECS 590 graduate course hands-on experience at the drill site.
Thanks @Duke_Geothermal and @DukeEngineering's CEE for sharing preliminary work for Duke to explore pursuit of geothermal solutions for sustainable facility operations. An excellent example of @DukeUClimate impact on campus!
Researchers and students will start a new project at the Nicholas School of the Environment to learn about geothermal energy and local geological history by drilling a 400-foot deep hole on campus: https://t.co/kXSH6Umq1p
