For those who weren’t able to grab a Hornets Summer League Championship T-shirt, we’re giving one away (Large) along with the limited-edition poster (No. 212 of 500).
Just retweet and follow me and @CLTure for a chance to win! Winner announced on Monday, August 4.
Reminder: Our semiannual gathering at Ed's is tomorrow morning (12/14)! Drop in any time 9:30-11:30 and stay as long as you'd like :) We would love to see you there!! We are also hoping to hold elections then, so please be sure to attend if you're interested in running/voting.
Don't forget! Math Club and WiSTEM are co-hosting a holiday party TONIGHT 6–8:30 pm in GMS 1048. We will have lots of fun games and yummy treats (including Thanksgiving pi!) We hope to see you there!
OH MAN! So, y’all are amazing!
There are enough replies that I think we’ll be able to work it out with one of you. I’ll try to get back to everyone over the weekend.
I really can’t tell y’all how great it is to have folks step up like this. Math Twitter is pretty cool!
MATH PEEPS!
I'm in search of speaker (via Zoom) to give an hour-long talk to 70-100 undergrad mathematicians next weekend (Nov 4-5).
Obviously, this is late notice. If you're at all interested, check the thread for explanation, the website https://t.co/0mRahma0wr, and/or DM me!
I understand the many reasons to say no to this call, but if for whatever wild reason you are inclined to say "yes," then please shoot me a DM!
I feel weird putting a call out this way, but I follow so many incredible mathematicians on here, I thought I had to give it a shot.
The talks are Friday night and Saturday morning. We are grateful that our speaker is still able to give one of their talks, but we are still hoping to have a second. We usually pay an honorarium, but (just a heads up) I am not certain how much remains.
@siwelwerd@ICERM How Data-savvy would you say you needed to be? Does a certain level of Justice enthusiasm make up for lesser data skills?
(It’s also cool if you don’t really have an answer. This looks cool and may apply regardless.)
math and physics colloquium THIS WEDNESDAY — all are welcome!
includes:
• 30-minute research talk
• 15-minute vocation discussion
• Q&A
we hope to see you there!
@IanVSR_56 @zackthescribe @biobec17 And, you didn’t get the opportunity to benefit from this policy of mine - for a couple reasons, one of which was that it’s a more recent part of my evolution.
@zackthescribe Ooh, but I also tell students that I deprioritize work turned in after the date I set. Because my need to have time to provide them with substantive feedback is the point of having a set date at all.
