@KaptainKulk That's quite hard as I was 16 in 1985, a very good year for albums. At the time I thought Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms quite dodgy but it's probably a classic now.
On this day in 1982 the Byker Viaduct was opened. Designed by Ove Arup and Partners, the viaduct took 2 years to build and was notable, in being the first such structure in Britain to be built using cantilevered concrete sections with joints glued with epoxy resin.

@BuntyCox@SoVeryBritish What a brilliant demonstration of the solidity of pillar boxes! No doubt there are similar images of blitz-surviving boxes. There are plenty of pre-war boxes around.
