The scientific method relies on the answers to questions like 'what is evidence'? Sciences are free to answer these questions in their own way and to define their own scientific method.
@ctford And my favourite lesson from every kid I've seen playing an instrument is play the bits you like as fast as possible, as many times as possible! (less keen on the "as loud as possible" part)
