Still thinking about @cshldnarep & the amazing science+people! Thanks to all participants - especially cochairs John (@DiffleyLab) and Bob (@DuronioLab) for their help. Time to step down but looking forward to the next with new cochair Agata Smogorzewska (@MaintainGenome)!
Thanks for the ridiculously adorable photo display, super thoughtful and generous tour of Baltimore y’all planned for me, and for truly being the best lab I could’ve ended up in to start my scientific career. Love you all. See you soon. 🪰🥹🫶🏻 @DuronioLab
✨Harnessing the power of Drosophila✨ to ask Q's about the roles of canonical and variant histones in genome function and development.
A 🧵about this little journey, which was a pretty wonderful first project in the @DuronioLab and @DMcKay_Lab. 1/9

Very excited to share the work of @UNC_GMB graduate student @gene_marie_3 in her first, first-author paper now available in @GeneticsGSA. Fun collaboration with @DuronioLab!

Lab bucket list activity to help celebrate @acrain12’s wonderful thesis defense last week! Whoever thought of combining range golf with darts is an evil scientist genius.
Dr. Aaron Crain, everyone! I’m so grateful he was my first scientific mentor in the @DuronioLab, and I’m even more thankful to call him my friend. So earnest, compassionate, patient, and generous with his science, energy, and time. Watch out for this star, folks! @acrain12
Congrats to @miahoov23 who graduates from Carolina today! Mentored by @JamesKempJrPhD for her UG research; look out for their paper on HLBs later this year.
🎉 Congratulations to Jeffery Dangl, the John N. Couch Distinguished Professor of Biology, for being elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society, the U.K.’s national academy of sciences.

Great to see my friend and long time colleague @mei_newt receive the 2023 Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Student and Academic Program Support for directing UNC’s @UNC_GMB PhD program! (With the support of the awesome John Cornett pictured with him of course!)
This one means a lot 🥲not funded on the first go around but stuck with it and here we are!
& a nice coincidence, the preprint of our manuscript stemming from aim 2 is now live on @biorxivpreprint! https://t.co/hCKbE1BwRt
Hey #Dros23 I’ll miss you. Thanks for the lovely new connections with the fly community, invigorating discussions about science, and unforgettable time with the @DuronioLab <3 I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this group of people.
If you like any combination of histones, gene regulation, pretty IF images, and the cell cycle stop by 459T today at #Dros23 🪰! I’ll be sharing some exciting findings from my work in the @DuronioLab on the negative regulation of histone genes!
@DuronioLab, @McKayLab, and Matera Lab’s have arrived at #Dros23. Fresh off tacos and margaritas, looking forward to a great meeting! And Go ‘Heels on Saturday!!
Hot off the press!!
During my 1st yr rotations I took a 10-week deep dive into the world of nucleosome biochemistry while working with @a_skrajna in the McGinty Lab. Awesome to see some of the nucleosomes I made during that time used in this screen.
Job alert! @UNC_Lineberger, in collaboration with @UNC_SOM and @UNC, is seeking outstanding candidates for faculty positions at all ranks in basic and translational cancer research. https://t.co/MDrG0S52YP #faculty#CancerResearch
So much @DuronioLab turnout to support our undergrad Lucy and all the other fantastic scientists! You can see me in the second photo having a proud TA moment as one of my former students shared his work with me :)
