Without wanting to sound like a pessimist, this explains why I'm much more on the side of 'cautious' in my cautious optimism for the time being - https://t.co/LHHNp9BL6Q If this is @michaelgove 'hail mary' last ditch attempt to fix this crisis, it's a shame there's so many holes
Ridiculously arrogant and incorrect statement. While I agree they are at fault as well, it was not legislators who cut corners, deviated from approved plans to save money and negligently omitted fire breaks etc.
Verrrry punchy statement just out from the National Federation of Builders on the government's new proposals to fix the cladding crisis https://t.co/bKzRJxn5MP
Matthew Pratt Chief Exec @Redrow "you cannot keep putting all the responsibility on developers". Cry me a river. Developers reap what they sow. Just need @michaelgove to actually put responsibility on developers and not just threaten to do so. #polluterpays@polluterpaysbsb
@willquince Hi Will, I wrote a letter to you last year as one of your constituents to discuss the ongoing #buildingsafetycrisis caused by developers like @Barrattplc which is being allowed to continue and worsen by @luhc policy. Unfortunately I didn't hear back. Could we discuss?
More than 1/2 of the fund has gone already on 191 buildings. Do you really think that there are only 191 buildings left in the country with #wakingwatch? I think I could find more than that in one afternoon wandering around East London! #EndOurFireSafetyScandal
.@team_greenhalgh like how this letter starts by saying that the WW Fund *will* cover costs on unsafe buildings, then this gets progressively less certain on this as the letter goes on... 'it'll cover as many as possible'... 1/2
@Solent43 @Michael4MDNP @ConorBurnsUK@Tobias_Ellwood@RobertJenrick Fair few down in the South West already on the map but we're inclined to think we've probably only managed to collect data for around 10% of total affected buildings at https://t.co/OYXzcPLO2b despite best efforts. Welcome new additions from any affected buildings.
.@NFCC_FireChiefs @mark_hardingham Thanks for your comments here https://t.co/doxmmRuIim Will you support a push for an amendment to the #BuildingSafetyBill enshrining in law that leaseholders shouldn't have to pay and that #WakingWatch is being used incorrectly at present?
.@gstringermp given that Manchester has now almost disappeared under pins showing buildings affected by the #buildingsafetycrisis, can we please count on your support for @SMcPartland and others' amendments to the #BuildingSafetyBill so that it actually protects leaseholders
@peterproperty @Barrattplc @RobertJenrick@mhclg It's been nearly 4 months and we've heard nothing of substance from @Barrattplc in relation to their handiwork at @Waterside_E16#WatersideParkE16. They apparently want to inspect themselves but have had months to do so... Presumably worried about what they might find.
@peterproperty .@Barrattplc very clearly announcing this (which we and they know is nowhere close to the total responsibility) because they knew they would shortly be announcing c.£800m PROFIT. They have the money to pay their fair share but CHOOSE not to, enabled by @RobertJenrick and @mhclg
An Architects view
I wonder if the Building Safety Bill has been drafted in response to the power of construction giants rather than to help those who live in high-rise flats
Perhaps @team_greenhalgh can answer

It's important for everyone to understand the distinction between Polluter Pays Bill vs Polluter Pays Tax
One gets full redress the other just imposes a tiny levy on developers
Would you rather pay nothing or the balance of £10bn?
