In early May 2026, the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation released a new, updated benchmark suite—the first since 2017—that reflects modern, compute-intensive workloads typical of today’s real-world software.
NEST is included in the updated benchmark suite as scientific simulation software because it represents complex, compute-intensive workloads characteristic of modern server and workstation architectures.

The EU-funded @SciLake_project has now concluded its three-year mission to make scientific knowledge easier to discover, connect and reuse.
As part of this Europe-wide effort, EBRAINS contributed to the neuroscience pilot, helping demonstrate how advanced, domain-specific knowledge graphs can support better navigation of complex research fields.

EBRAINS has released the Roadmap 2026–2036 community contributions ahead of the Strategy Symposium taking place in Munich on 21-22 May 2026.
The published volume brings together 139 accepted proposals from across 27 countries and the wider European digital neuroscience community, as a result of a broad bottom-up consultation launched in November 2025.

🧠 How can digital brain models support real-world care?
At the Virtual Brain Twin (#VBT) Co-Lab in Bonn, patients, clinicians and researchers explored how personalised brain models could support clinical decision-making in conditions such as #epilepsy and #schizophrenia.

We are looking forward to the Brain Connectivity Workshop 2026 in Nîmes, France from 10-12 June!
EBRAINS will have a strong presence at the event. EBRAINS researchers Dr. Spase Petkoski and Dr. Meysam Hasehemi will give a hands-on introduction to the Virtual Brain Platform, covering computational modelling and simulation of personalised brain dynamics, on 10 June at 14:00.

The @UniHeidelberg was happy to take part in Girls’ Day 2026 on 23 April and to welcome a group of 19 students from different schools and regions.
The group had the opportunity to run larger-scale experiments using the BrainScaleS-2 system via EBRAINS. This allowed them to see how such systems are used in current research.
