📢 We’re proud to share a new publication in @PLOS Global Public Health by a multidisciplinary team of experts across academia, industry, and leading public health agencies, including contributions from our senior leadership at EIT.
The paper introduces the Always On approach - a dual-purpose system for pathogen surveillance that integrates emergency detection with routine clinical care.
At a time when pandemic threats persist and antimicrobial resistance grows, this approach aims to sustain and enhance health security infrastructure while delivering actionable clinical diagnostics.
Congratulations to our incredible team and collaborators: Sir John Bell, Tamsin Berry, Ines Hassan, Romina Mariano Megan Akodu, Corinna Bull, Kumeren Govender.
Thank you for driving innovation at the intersection of health and technology! 🚀

🎉 Last year EIT purchased the iconic and much loved Eagle and Child pub in the city centre of Oxford.
✍ For over 300 years, this venue has played host to some of Oxford's greatest minds, including C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, members of the Inklings writers group, who regularly met to discuss literature, philosophy and culture.
🏗️ With designs led by Norman Foster @FosterPartners , EIT plans to preserve, refurbish and reopen the Eagle and Child, maintaining its use as a treasured public house and continuing its legacy as a space for people to come together and collaborate.
📅 If you would like to find out more about our exciting plans, please come to our public consultation meeting at St John’s College, everyone is welcome!

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Emma Stanton, in partnership with Professor Gil McVean, will lead the EIT’s pioneering Pathogen Program - our first in a series of high-impact initiatives aimed at tackling some of the world’s most enduring problems.
🔬 The Pathogen Program will focus on creating end-to-end diagnostic solutions, tools for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) detection, and an “Always On” data and analytics platform. By advancing these capabilities, the program aims to prevent disease outbreaks from escalating into global pandemics.
You can meet Emma and the @EITPathogena team at the @TheUnion_TBLH conference from 12th -16th November, where she will be sharing how they aim to reshape global health through innovation and tenacity.

Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. 💗
Trish McDonnell, an oncology nurse at the @eitlosangeles Ellison Clinic who treats patients with breast cancer, sheds light on metastatic breast cancer, the most advanced stage of the disease.
While there is currently no cure for metastatic breast cancer, new research and treatments are giving patients more time and #HOPE, and dramatically reducing suffering. At EIT LA, we’re committed to advancing breakthroughs that bring us closer to transforming patient lives.

Special recognition post! 📢
Last week, the world’s first lung cancer vaccine trials launched in seven countries, with the first UK patient being treated. This was a cumulation of a strategy to empower scientists and trialists, enabled by @drlennardlee, which confirms the UK as the best place for cancer vaccine research.
His efforts include:
➡ Empowering the clinical community with emerging technological opportunities, ensuring the most efficient process to patient benefit.
➡ Designing and facilitating the NHS Cancer Vaccine Launchpad, a national system designed to streamline patient enrolment in cancer vaccine trials.
➡ This builds on lessons from previous successful programmes such as the NHS-Galleri trial, the lateral flow moonshot, and the UK COVID cancer programme.
The UK research community is now on course to place 10,000 people through trials by 2030, make significant scientific gains across all subtypes of cancer, and stimulate a global technological advance.
We are delighted to share that @drlennardlee an outstanding academic clinician (@UniofOxford) will be working on our Oxford University-EIT alliance. Lennard will lead our new EIT Oxford Clinic (opening in 2027) and establish it as a centre for innovation and healthcare excellence, setting a new standard for clinical care and research integration. It will deliver compassionate, technology-driven clinical care to cancer and preventive medicine patients.
Congratulations Lennard - let’s dare to dream big how healthcare and technologies can be re-imagined!
